Default Starting the preparation

Hi, I have recently decided to appear for CSS 2017 exam. but I have hundreds of questions in my mind. Therefore need expert advise of seniors on the following:
Is it necessary to join academy? Since I don't have much knowledge as to how should I prepare? What subjects should I choose?
Suggest the best academy in Karachi.
Is it better to study at home or I should go to library for studies? I am thinking to go to DCL karachi.
Thank you

Don't join any academy. academy is totally wastage of time, Cssforum is best for css preparation, study at home is best option

Default Selection of subjects

What about selection of optional subjects?
I have done MBA hence I am thinking to opt for Accounting and Auditing, Business Administration, statistics.
Are the subjects scoring? I never saw here anyone who opted for these subjects :/

Follow the link for your answer: Joining academy for css preparation

Moreover, Dear aspirant, It is advisable that you may join academy for a month not more because by doing so you can have an overview of the paper pattern, study materials, what should a student do and what should not during exam but during academy classes time is wasted a lot (This advise is in the case if there is nobody to guide you in detail for CSS Exam pattern. And if you don't wanna join, seek guidance about exam details, paper pattern and subject selection once from some senior. Generally speaking academy does help but this is You who will make the difference by your self study in the end..Finishing touch will be given by your self study.

Start reading Dawn Newspaper and Jehangir World Times Monthly in order to develop consistency and aptitude for further preparation. In the meantime go through past papers of all the subjects in which you are going to appear in exam. This will give a kick start at initial level. Get used to syllabus and start preparing one compulsory and one optional subject at a time.

If you have a choice of library and you can easily visit, then library is better option. Make a routine and just follow it.

There is no calculated trick has classified for choosing optional but our veteran members organized a trick to choose optional. Most of beginners look for high scoring subject but true aspirant never be trapped in the intricacy of high or low scores because it depends upon grip on subject. the way of attempting the questions of aspirants that make it a high scoring or low scoring subject

1. Choose the subjects according to your aptitude. Subjects which you have studied in your academic period. Subject which are more credible to acquire flying colors. you have natural tendency for the subjects as when you study you do not feel exhausted.

2. Choose subjects which are homogeneous in structure of compulsory subject. For instance, Indo-pak history (part 2) covers through PA , IR covers through CA .

3. Choose subjects which are not too lengthy such as journalism. In the light of a CSP suggestion , He covers the syllabus of journalism with in 10 days.

Aspirants should check out syllabus & past papers ere selection of optional subjects.

Dear DCL is good option for css preparation. As for as academy is concerned , i don't think academy will be helpful to you. I suggest you just join teacher for essay and composition and rest work hard. Make target based study . Take 2 subject one from optional and one from compulsory and set the target of 10 days.

Thank u seniors for great advices.
I have a few more concerns:
Currently I am working and i have obv decided to resign. I'm a being a little greedy too, since i will get bonus in the first week of July only if i stay till then.
But that means wastage of 2 months.
Shall i be able to prepare in approx 6.5 months knowing the fact that I'm an average student with slow reading? I'm very very confused therefore need some motivation n guidance.
Kindly suggest as I'm unable to do cost benefit analysis in a fair manner.
