You must pursue it if this does not affect your job, Usually this exam takes years to succeed.

If you think you can serve the masses, then come back and play your role.. Money is nothing, service counts alot. It is worship..!!

On the above basis alone, you should surely give this a serious shot. Though, I would urge you to give it your all if you do commit yourself to the cause.

I understand that money is not everything; especially when interest is challenged by the job's nature and scope (as is the case with you). CSS will offer you a shot at pursuing your interests as well as a chance to be well rewarded for your efforts as you serve in whatever capacity.

Let this forum be your guide along the way and never be shy to seek opinion from multiple sources about any concerns you may have.

Hey, the service is very imperfect. If you plan on being an honest officer, be ready to be made OSD, slow promotions, and a pay package that is laughable compared to the corporate sector.

That being said, you get the opportunity to do quite a lot, especially in the PAS and PSP. The pay package while less than the corporate sector, is pretty decent, especially if you factor in perks and retirement benefits. Finally, while it is harder for them, honest officers to make it to top positions.

On a side note, it is very good if you think you can compete in these exams, but be warned that css is not as simple or straightforward as it appears. There are no guarantees, though if you work hard and smart you can have a somewhat reasonable chance of success.
