dear friend,
i m muhammad ansari, i am so worried about my english language level,
is there any way so that i can check or analyze it,
i m 27 years old, in this way i have only one attempt for css exam, and the bad thing is that i m totally new for this exam, please suggest me that how can i prepare for the next years css exam in such limited period of time?

Brother don't worry a lot... start with a good English grammar book, first concentrate on your grammar, along with it improve your vocabulary by using a dictionary while reading Dawn Newspaper(specially the editorial page, very important).... also try to write what you have read in Dawn Newspaper.... like, select one editorial read it thoroughly and then try to write it in your own words.... this habit will improve your writing skills... just keep continue this effort for the remaining 6 months... give 2 to 3 hours per day to these habits then you will be able to write very well in the end... also buy a book Exploring the world of english by Sayyid Saadat Ali shah.... cover its relevant portions according to the Syllabus.... but for basic grammar you have to consult some other good book... like practical english usage by Michael swan or any other foreign author book.... but remember.. you have to work really really hard because its your last chance because of age limit.....
Now wait for other respected seniors.. they will guide you even better..

Your concern is absolutely right!
Good command over englis language is a key to success
In any competitive exam in pakistan, particularly CSS.

In css exam, except a few optional language papers, one has to attempt everything in english.but besides english essay and precis & composition papers,candidates with average english, can score(and have been scoring) nicely.because in these papers (containing roughly 1,000 out of a total of 12,00 marks),the examiner 's prime concern is material and candidate's command over the respective subject;english marely plays a role of medium
Of expression.So you should be worried as to how you are going to prepare those ten papers in next 6 months (remember! css is primarily, a game of accumulating good score/marks; for which good and intelligent subject selection is a key).

As regards english essay and composition papers, you should follow the relevant threads of these two papers on this forum.learn the art of writing essay and making precis by consulting these sub forums! Write down essays and put them before members of this forum for comments and necessary correction by senior members!
I hope this practice would yield positive results and would also let you know where you stand!

Read DAWN daily and write atleast two pages everyday on any good topic

Dear,as you have only one attempt so dont be panic too much about English.English is an art and cant be learned in this time span,yes it can be polished by regular reading of Dawn newspaper coupled with writing but again i am advising dont give too much time to English as you have to not only pass css exam,have to score as well and i think you can fetch the required score by making a strong grip over other 10 subjects.Make an effective strategy by giving equal time to all subjects..Best of Luck !!

Ansari Sahib! It is no big deal; don't be worried at all. You can improve your English within a couple of months. Purchase " OXford Practice Grammar by John Eastwood " and "High School English Grammar and Composition by Wren and Martin"

Study them both + English newspaper, Dawn esp. Keep a notebook for vocabulary...

The best book for grammar is Oxford practical English Grammer book by AJ Thompson with exercise books,use it as a refrence during writing or do exercises of exercise books with the grammer book.Another very good tip for English writing is self proof reading and editing of written paragraphs by first reading the sentence in your mind that whether it sounds good or it matches your subconsious software for English(whatever you have learned since your school age) but sometimes during self editing you will find it difficult to take help from your subconcious software at that time consult a best grammer book as a refrence which i have mentioned above and in the end if u know any good English teacher or CSPS check it from them
