A bit confused
Aoa everyone. The thing is that a friend of mine is appearing in CSS next year and he is in the fourth year of his engineering degree with a cgpa of 2.38. He wants to do css very badly but he has a D+ grade in one of his semester subjects. So my question now is that, even though he has a cgpa of 2.38, will he still need to improve his D+ grade to a minimum C grade or not?

his cgpa should translate into 1st division after final result. grades in individual subject does not matter.

Then he is safe as far as i know. As per HEC 1.80-2.49 is equivalent to 50-59% and i assume that FPSC follows their criterion.
But as most universities do not award degrees below 2.00 so we can say that residing anywhere between 2 to 2.49 should be considered a second division or Grade 'C' degree which is the minimum requirement to appear in the exams. But for absolute assurance you ought to e-mail FPSC and ask them about the equivalence criteria of CGPA to percentage they follow. And do not mix the individual grades in subjects with CGPA. It's the CGPA that matters and not the separate grades. P.S: Please advise your friend to work hard in the ongoing last academic year and try his level best to jump over the 2.5 barrier. He may not be eligible to apply for most of the public sector job opportunities, if fells short of it, as they demand first division these days. |
