Default Is opting IR a right decision?

I have planned to appear in 2017 and i have prepared compulsory subjects. Now, what should I opt: IR or Geography+Environmental Sciences? I have seen the DMCs of candidates of 2012 & 2013 and most of them have scored in b/w 30 to 50. Is IR a low scoring subject?

Untill 2015, IR was of 100 marks which is now revised and it is of 200 marks now. My humble suggestion is to deeply analyse the syllabus of this subject. It is way more than just discusing current affairs between countries or regions. As far as, I have studied this subject for 2016, bit difficult especially theories...

One may disagree as this is my perception

Thanks a lot... but my concern is not regarding vastness of its syllabus.. I have found it quite interesting and can even study 6 books for it if required... i have enough time ahead.. my prime concern is its scoring potential.. hardly have i seen any one with 60+ marks in it in the dmc's thread..

In my opinion you should go to Political science.Political science easy subject except a thories part, and this subject has several overlaping topics with Pakistan Affair, indo-pak history, islamiat, constitutional law.
I.R is very interesting subject but huge syllabus and very brief period left to prepare other subjects and availability of books is also causing a problem

Until last year when it was of 100 marks, it was considered scoring subject.... Moreover, if you have interest in this subject, you should go for it. What good would be a scoring subject in which you have no interest and would not be able to do as much as you can do in it. At the end, Maybe even you cannot score in a high scoring subject.... Int Law is considered highly scoring subject but many flunked in that subject too with as low a score as 2 marks only. On the other hand, indo-pak history and physics are highly nonscoring subjects but some even got highest numbers in these subjects. Therefore, My opinion is that you should go where your predilection is. It is the safest plane to board on.

I have found political science a relatively dry subject as compared to IR.. specially the Muslim and western political thoughts
