Syllabus of Punjabi has undergone changes but its in no way difficult to prepare. One just needs to leave the strategy of selective study behind and go for a comprehensive study instead. But if you can avoid opting languages that would be much safer. I don't think there is any single book for all the three subjects but if you are asking single book for each then CA, in its entirety, cannot be prepared from any single book. As for Pakistan Affairs you can prepare history related portion from Ikram Rabbani and the rest of the syllabus is more like CA. For Islamiat you can use Hafiz Arshad's book if opting in Urdu or Advanced Concepts of Islamiat by Imtiaz Shahid.

So how should i read newspaper.?? What should be my strategy?? Should i cut off important news and paste them in my register or should i write down important facts and figures?? How can i use newspaper to improve my expression of writing? What was your plan of action in this respect. Please answer..!!
Jazak Allah.!
I am glad that someone brought this forward since I found newspaper and magazines really helpful in my preparation. Yes, it is not possible to read every word and memorise it on daily basis. The thing is when you keep on reading newspaper for quite some time and with much concentration, you would start feeling a difference. I maintained a register with myself. On one side I used to write difficult words, phrases, foreign expressions like de facto, fait accompli, prima facie and idioms etc. While in another portion I used to write important facts and figures date wise. By doing so, whenever I used to sit and write something I would automatically recall the things I had studied in the paper regarding that particular topic. I used to keep cuttings of very important and good editorials only.

As I have mentioned earlier that this strategy worked for me. Newspaper reading automatically improves your expression. There are no rules that can be followed, though writing small pieces or attempting few questions related to Pakistan Affairs or Current Affairs while keeping in mind what you have read in newspaper/magazine related to that particular topic, can prove to be really helpful. But don't concentrate too much on making your expression like that of the newspaper. Just try to write good English. Use decent vocabulary, that doesn't necessarily has to be difficult and outlandish. Minimize the possibility of grammatical errors by learning simple rules. And don't commit spelling mistakes. Read a lot and then write. You can casually revise the extracted words, foreign expressions and idioms from the newspaper on weekly basis.

As Journalism was also one of your optionals what difference have you found between its old and revised syllabi?
Is it right that Journalism is brief than Sociology?

I am confused between Sociology and Journalism
Both are absolutely new for me.
I want to know which one of the two will be easy to prepare.
My other optionals are:

Political Science
Indo-Pak History
Constitutional Law
Public Administration

I have done B.E in industrial and manufacturing. Now I have decided to take CSS papers in 2017 but I am little confused in the selection of my optional subjects.
So far I have selected
Physics
Sociology
Public administation
International Law
Indo Pak history
But there is a common view on the forum that Indo pak is not a scoring subject. So whether I go for this or not. So Jolie Damn pls comment on my combination and also give advice about Indo pak history. I am very confused because I have no interest in US and British history.

I am also engineer done , i was also interested in physics but reading threads on forum and discussing with seniors , i concluded physics is good for engineers but it demand extra time instead one can chose other subjects that might help you score as well as save your precious time for important things like essay and composition. for rest of subjects i am not sure about sociology bur all other seems great to me .
