Ok,first of all, i am not a qualifier and have not sat for the exam.Secondly, Reading and then learning words from that has helped me a lot.One more thing is that you have to read vocabulary from SAT,GMAT,etc lists, beacuse it will broden your vocab furthur in short time. But one is very important and that is to memorize and learn it to the best of your abilities. It's a pure cramming game and make sure to learn the use of the word.Do not compromise on these two points, otherwise, you have to go back, again and again, every time that word come up.This is my own experience.

There's no short cut to success! Learning vocabulary is important for CSS, however, understanding the way a word has to be used is equally significant. You cannot rote learn a word, use it the wrong way, and expect the examiner to give marks for that.

1. Try to use appropriate words I.e. the best word to express your view and not necessarily the difficult most word you know.

2. Reading is the best possible way to comprehend where and how a new word has to be used.

3. Newspapers are the best source to learn new vocabulary n learn their usage.

4. While learning vocabulary from SAT/GRE, try to grasp the way the words have been used in the sentences given there as examples. For example you should know what prepositions are used before and after words...it's not necessary that two synonyms can be used for the same purpose.

5. Keep it simple stupid. It's not always about using difficult words or flowery language. It's about many other things... like grammatically correct sentences, your expression and zero repetition of vocab in your precise and essay. Yes zero! The different and unique always win!

I am no expert on giving suggestions on English. However, my way of passing the exam twice was just reading more and more. The more you read, the more you are able to write. I hope this was of help

I agree with your each and every point. First time in my life, I have come to realize the importance of hard work and I am doing it as much as I can.
1. Whenever I feel, I am not confirm about the word, I go with already used word. It is better to be on safe side and play safely. Misplaced or miss pelt word can prove more dangerous than variety lacking sentences.
2,3,4. I do read dawn newspaper daily for an hour. What other sources should I be reading to enhance my written expression and analytical skills? I am having little bit tough time with placement of correct preposition with verb. I am working on it.
5. This is where I am still having hard time. I found it very depressing and frustrating when I run out of synonyms and end up repeating them intermittently.

Your suggestions are helpful and motivational. Congratulations for passing the dream exam of Pakistan two times, wishing you a great future ahead. Thank you for the detailed reply.

As such there is no short cut way to memorize the vocabulary, this depends on person to person but i would suggest you the best way that must be regular reader of any English newspaper and what the word comes which you feel it is unknown or you dont know its meaning u must check it from the dictionary and use them in sentences as practice. The second way i will recommend that should refer the books on SAT and memorize some words as ratta.
