Secretary Interior has always been from DMG, current Sectt Interior (Khawaja Siddique Akbar) is also from DMG; as usual...I dint get what did you mean by "Now Secretariat Group"....If you are pointing towards APUG factor, then let me share here that OMG,PSP & DMG get promotions against their respective occupational group cadres,Which means a PSP officer even if posted as Additional Secretary (Interior Div) will remain as a PSP (he is never called as a secretariat group officer) and his next posting could be IG (Islamabad), similarly a DMG officer posted as Secretary (Interior) can have next posting as Chief Secretary of any province..!!! but an officer of OMG/Secretariat group cannot be posted on above mentioned posts (IG/Chief sectt etc), Secretariat Group is just an old name of OMG

PS Red.Hawk has correctly mentioned the details regarding the posts of sectt Interior,DG(IB) and DG(ISI)...!!!

Dear Brother! I was alluding to the current policy of Establishment Division according to which the DMG officers in grade 22 are automatically added to the pool of Secretariat Group.

@ Red Hawk

Regarding my first post, i was referring to the current scenario.

Oh Yes right, got your point...but if DMG BPS-22 officer is given another assignment like Chairman FBR, he is again referred as a DMG officer. I meant to say that a person from DMG,PSP or OMG, in whatever grade; he is in his personal file always remain with his respective section...like in case of DMG, the file will always remain with Section E-V (DMG) in Establishment Division.

@Nadem
Sir very very thanks for giving reply.

but what you mean that a person who is now Secretary Interior and his next posting Chief Secretary of any province means Chief Secretary is higher post than Secretary (Interior) ? how is it possible because Secretary Interior is federal and chief secretary of any province is provincial post.

Dear both posts are of BPS-22, Chief Secretary is the Administrative Head of a Province, where as Chief Minister is the Political head of a province. Sectt Interior n Chief Sectt are two different postings, no one is reportable to other....these are two independent posts, I mentioned this as an example

Initially Pakistan adopted the British era IB system, whereby the most senior IPS/PSP officer was supposed to be the DIB. However, after some years the practice was changed and any body could be made a DIB/DGIB. It is prerogative of the chief executive to bring any person to this slot. This is the list of DGs of IB as per Wikipedia, where we can find that majority of them were ex army officers of various ranks and some of ex IB and PSP officers. Majority of ex military men had either served in ISI or in IB before assigning the slot of DG. Its after decades that the third consecutive DG IB is from PSP:

Maj Gen Agha Nek Mohammad
Mian Aslam Hayat
Noor Laghari
Brig (R) Brigadier Imtiaz Ahmed, 1990–1993
Maj (R) Masood Sharif Khan Khattak, 1993 - November 1996
Maj Gen Rafiullah Niazi, November 1996 - September 1997
Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, September 1997 - August 1998
Col (R) Iqbal Niazi, August 1998 - October 1999
Maj Gen Rafiullah khan Niazi, October 1999
Maj Gen (R) Talat Munir, - October 2002
Col (R) Bashir Wali Muhammad, October 2002 - February 2004
Brig (R) Ijaz Shah, February 2004 - March 2008
Tariq Ahmed Lodhi March 2008-August 2008 IB
Shoaib Suddle, August 2008 - May 2009 PSP
Javed Noor, May 2009 - October 2011 PSP
Aftaab Sultan, October 2011 - PSP
