How could a self conscious person survive in PSP?
AOA! I have an interest in the PSP group and in the future I would like to join it.. But before that I would like to know regarding the reputation of this group especially as I have seen a lot of malpractices in this department and I have a first hand experience of witnessing corruption and political pressure etc etc.. Could someone concerned guide me as to how could a self conscious person survive in that department when you are surrounded by so much of malpractices and an environment which forces you to give up on your principles??

Its really simple. After joining PSP you should adopt a different set of principles. Obviously one has to be flexible enough to change according to the circumstances. Its not so difficult if one has the will to survive.

@shallowwater: Can you please explain what do you mean by "to change according to the circumstances"?
@kingfalcon: What do you mean by "survive". Obviously you'll transferred and will become OSD, quite often, but that is not the end of the world. You can again remain upright and honest at the next place where you are transferred. Admittedly, life of honesty is always difficult, but one can certainly survive. The bottom line is, if you work on the dictates of your own conscious, even if you are an SHO of remote areas like Lora Lai, or Landi Kotal, you are a KING, on the other hand even if you become a CCPO, who is always looking for the approval of corrupt politicians, you are merely a high-class beggar.

Yes agreed. If you are honest, you can serve whereever you are posted. The only difference is that you will be having a big posting chart, nothing else. But, in this way, you will be calm and in peace.

@shalowwater: Brother don't mind but I have a feeling that you are saying to do things which you dont like because you have to adjust to the system... whether that demands corruption or bowing to politicians etc...
@anwaartheravian: By survival, I meant nice and easy progression in career without too many tensions... and also the survival of the self conscious and "zameer"... I found your reply very interesting.. @unsolved_Mystry: Yes that is true but how can someone be calm n happy with postings every now and then... Its a real trouble to move about all the time.. I had friends who were children of army officers and they were sick of all the postings again n again.. altough they liked the fact that you'll see the country etc..! |

@ Kingfalcon.
One has to be practical when in public service. By adjusting according to the changing circumstances i mean what you have understood. When time comes then everything becomes clear. If you wont do so then you wont be able to spend 32 days in service, let alone 32 years. After all that hardwork once you get that post then you have to fulfill some commitments.

Yes.. That is quite realistic of you I must say... But I am very sad about this situation... Our country has become like a jungle where might is right and there is no value for merit or honesty or morality etc.. I mean our Quaid would not even let his ADC open the railway line crossover once it was closed... What has happened to us...

I strongly disagree! Dismissing a PSP officer from services is not an easy task. You have the recent example of DPO D.G.Khan, who has detained the PM's Advisor now for 2 days. And in the days to come, you'll see nothing will happen to him except a transfer to some less significant post. That's all these corrupt politicians can do.
