Can anyone explain this
''Police Service of Pakistan (PSP)
i) After completion of the specialised training in the National Police Academy, the PSP officers may be posted without exception as Assistant Superintendents of Police in a province other than that of their domicile. For the purpose of making allocations, these officers, during the course of their common training programme in the Civil Services Academy may be asked to indicate, in order of preference, the province of their choice (other than their home province). Final allocation may be made keeping in view the requirement of provinces, the choice of the officers and their merit position in the competitive examination.
ii) After allocation to the provinces, the PSP officers should remain posted there as Assistant Superintendents of Police till their promotion to BPS-18. This period should include the charge of a sub-division for at least two years and their period of duty in the Frontier Constabulary.
iii) On promotion to the rank of Superintendent of Police (BPS-18) the PSP officers may be posted to another province including the province of their domicile, where they should spend at least two years as District Superintendent of Police. Thereafter, they may be posted to the Central Police Offices in the provinces or various police related federal agencies like the Intelligence Bureau, Federal Investigation Agency, Pakistan Narcotics Control Board, Bureau of Police Research and Development and National Police Academy etc.
iv) On promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (BPS-19) a PSP officer may be posted to a province of a police-related federal agency with the objective of giving him as varied an experience as possible.
this means that the asp becomes SDPO right after the completion of his training and SP has to remain district SP for 2 yrz????
is it necessary in PSP to have 2 year field posting in every grade for promotion to next grade??? what is meant by that field posting??? does every psp must becomes dpo,, rpo ,cpo ,ccpo once????
does this mean that every SP will become district SP for a minimum period of 2 years before becoming SSP???
some PSP officer respond to this plz.

SDPO - Sub Divisional Police Officer is posting where both ASP and DSP may be posting. SDPO is incharge of a sub-division which comprises of one or more police stations.
SP is next promotion to ASP in BPS-18 and from 17 to grate 18 promotion minimum of 5 years service length is mandatory. However, if vacancies in grade 18 are available then on acting charge basis promotion may be granted.

The above rules are self explanatory about field posting. It is always used 'may be' in the rules which is discretion of Competent Authority but mostly rules are strictly adhered to.

The extractl posted by you is taken from 'Inter Provincial Policy' framed in 1988 by the Federal Govt. and for your information policy may not be treated as rule. It can be relaxed by the authority who has approved it and same is the case with rules.

xeric is correct
SP of a distrcit is an old term ..
now the posts of sp has increased
so this period of commanding a distrcit is not mandatory now
and this is no perfect rule for that to be a distrcit sp
u can see too many ppl gettting promoted as ssp and dig
without commanding a distrcit
so dun get confuse into these meager details

Does this mean that a person from Punjab will be working in a different province (such as Sindh) as an ASP and is not allowed to be posted in Punjab for the first two years ?
