CSS 2006.
Where ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise.
Ignorance is generally consider as a vice, however in certain case at certain times it really turns out to be a bliss. Wise are those who prefer silence when it is futile to speak of wisdom. It has been rightly said by Epicurius that magna evitas magna solitudo a great city is a great solitude.
There are two types of people in general; those who are illiterate and thus ignorant and those who are 'illiterate illuminae' or educated ignorant, of the two, latter is the worst type of ignorance. These people when agrued with, will dragg you to the level of their mental capacity and will simply beat you; of the former type of people, they are usually in majority everywhere and so are their follies and superstitions. For a wise man to live among them, he has two options in hand, either to nod at what they say or simply to stay quiet. For if he were to speak of or condemn their follies he would be doing no good to himself or to them expect causing humiliation to his own repute.
Holly Prophet ( Peace and blessings be upon him) have said that anyone may tell a lie if he sees that it can prevent people from commolation and needless bloodshedding. lie, nodoubt, comes within the ambits of conscious ignorance yet it is admissible in Islam is certain cases and the lier and consequently ignorant in this case is wise indeed.
To go against the majority of folls is folly and to see where they are seeing is a profound wisdom. Far a single opnion of truth is of no worth in the face of an over whelming majority who are not willing to hear anything that went against them. However this would surely bring skepticism in people's outlook but it's better to be an obeserver than to cause troubles for himself and for others of his ilk, this skepticism is, palpably, akin to wisdom.
Man's instinct is naturally inclined towards wisdom, and it would be quite unbearble to him to see his fellows grapple about in darkness of ignorance yet it is fruitfull to stay quiet or ignorant where he sees that he alone can do nothing and if he tried to be wise, he would do nothing but bring contempt and degradation to him because where ignorance is bliss it is folly to be wise.
