1. A ship drowned in the sea.

2. She hanged a picture on the wall.

drown/drowned is used for living things, for non living objects sink/sank/sunk is used. Similarly hanged is conventionally used if a person is hanged. For a picture, the correct verb is hung.

2. She works in her office carefully everyday.
