Arrow How Idioms and Pair of Words to be prepared?

How Idioms and pair of words could be prepared? Are there some important or less important CHAKKAR or we have to memorize all from A-Z.

Please guide I am confused about so many pairs and idioms to be memorized.

Or if there is any book having only important idioms and pairs, do name.

Thanks

1.Go through past papers and point out most repeated idioms and pair of words.

2. after reading idioms and pair of words,it should be in your mind that you will have to use them in your rough draft.this practice helps you to get command over them.

3.Make a list of important idioms and pair of words and that list should not contain more than 100 idioms and pair of words.

4.Many idioms,pair of words and phrases are used in english newspapers like dawn ,dailytimes washington post etc.however while reading english newspapers it should be foremost important task to underline and jot them down.

Exploring the word of english by saddat ali shah is ample.

Regards,

an easy way to improve upon idioms and pair of words is to go through materials in english....that is why i always suggest to use books by foreigners for optionals as well....you shall find that beneficial too....

and newspapers do contain idioms....if you read the newspaper carefully ya shall be able to enhance your vocab by a large amount...that would save you the effort of memorizing all those IDIOMS!!!

DO you all mean that NO SHORTCUT for idioms and pairs. To be memorized as much as one can.

I saw book "Exploring the world of English" having thousands of idioms and pairs.

@rose_pk

Shortcut way of learning idioms and pairs of words is not to cram it. Instead of memorizing these stuffs your concept should be cleared. You can find idioms in newspapers, books (while preparing optional subjects), articles etc – just clear your concept instead of cramming. You will feel the change. Hopefully you will be able to make sentences on variety of idioms and pair of words.

@ rosepk, fellows have guided you well, there is no shortcut for it, in addition to exploring the world of english, you may find considerable number of idioms and pair of words in forum, just search it in english portion and you will find it.

best of luck
