The meaning of 'Yak jaan do qaalib' is different from that of 'As alike as two peads in a pod'. The former is used to describe strength, force and unity of relationships whereas the later is used to describe similarity and resemblence between different things.

Like two peas in a pod (Example)
You can tell they're brothers at a glance - they're like two peas in a pod. It is used to describe things resembling each other. For example two persons having so much resemblance that one could be mistaken for the other or they may be mistaken for brothers. Whereas the urdu idiom ‘yak jaan do qalib’ is used to describe the depth or strength of relationship. For example, for two very close friends who cares a lot for each other or love each other so much that they can’t live without each other, we can say; ‘dono dost to yak jaan do qaalib hain’ it virtually means having two hearts physically but with one common life! Thus if something happens to one of the hearts the other will also get disturbed or if one heart is broken the other will also be broken.
