Default sentence correction

when i saw the child it was crying. ( because it can be used when the sex is not identified).
it was his child who is making a noise.
members kindly suggest do these sentences need any corrections.

Few days ago i have read this type of question in GMAT book. We cannot use 'it' there we have to use either he or she when the sex is not specified.
