Please Please Please HELP me...

Instead of reading solved precis, you should try to solve past precis papers and other paragraphs yourself, with the help of following guidelines which are effective for beginners:
1. Read the paragraph repetitively until you understand it thoroughly.
2. Write the important points of the paragraph on a rough paper.
3. From these important points, remove what you think is a repetition of thoughts or is not necessary.
4. Then write these selective points in your own words inter-connected as a rough draft.
5. evaluate the rough draft and write the final precis as 1/3rd of the original one.
6. propose a suitable title, guessing from first or last 3 sentences of the original paragraph.
7. Then post your effort on this forum for final evaluation by seniors.

“Unemployment arises from a variety of causes. One that is always recurring, and of the effects of which, we have had a recent example, is the disorganization of industry resulting from a long war; that is a serious problem admitting of no easy solution at the best of times. Again, there is the unemployment which follows a marked diminution in the quantity of any raw product, such as cotton: fewer hands required in the mills and factories. We may call this cause “bad harvests”. Similar, but more serious, is the effect of changes in industry due to the invention of machinery which does more work and requires fewer workers. And yet another serious cause is a strike or lock-out and this is the more to be deplored because such a stoppage is sometimes due to a very trivial matter—perhaps the facts that men are working half-an-hour longer than the regulations of their union permit.”

There are various causes of unemployment. Disorganization of industry is one of the major causes of unemployment which arises due war. The reduction in the raw product due to bad harvest is also a reason. The most serious cause is the replacement of manual work by machinery. Another cause is strike occurring due to trivial matters disturb the whole industry and cause unemployment.
