Thesis statement: Human values and ethics are hallmarks for democratic and human credentials.
1 history: politics had less to do with ethics, human values, and what was
right, the result was ill human practices, imperialism, colonialism,
and devastating world wars.
2.contemporary: today man is technologically advanced but morally and
ethically at his nadir, politics on national and international
level inordinately linked with petty pelf, power, and position
incentives, concurrently intrastate armed-conflicts, emerging
ethnostate subverting nationalism, genocide, and
humanitarian crises(one may include myriad examples such as Africa internecine armed conflicts, Rohingya's genocide, Palestine's
carnage etc.)
3:21st century: moving toward homo-sapience to homo deus; it is a must
cultivate ethics in politics for saving man form inhalation.

You can further enumerate acts of commission and omission to cultivate and promote ethics in politics from local to national and in international politics.
such as acts of commision :
1 Abuse of power
the public office must serve in interests of people rather than myopic interests of ruling elite and particular class.

2 freedom of expression, religion, and creed
the political system must be impartial and assure the right to hold an opinion, express and promote it, and equally have right of dissidence socially and politically.

3 Basic human rights
: serve humanity must be a priority in any society

4.good governance: equal distribution of resources

5.law and order: socioeconomic justice crucial ingredient or prerequisite for political stability.
