In the fight against terrorism and corruption, it is imperative not to compromise on human rights
Thesis statement: Human rights violations in the name of fight against terrorism and corruption has proved to be counterproductive. Nice try, but some comments I quickly came up with.
1) Essay is heavily tilted towards the physical form of terrorism and human rights associated with it. Cyber terrorism is one aspect that must be included and how free speech on digital media is threatened by using anti terror cyber laws. 2) You need to define "Human Rights" first and why they are important in contemprary world, what are basic human rights guranteed under UN Declaration article 19 and Pakistan's constitution. Include the social contract (rousseau and locke) a citizen has with the state, and how state is responsible for ensuring human rights of its citizens. 3)Include a para in which you explain why it is a hard problem to ensure Human rights in wars and conflicts, why fight against terrorism and human rights are hard to do simultaneously 4) Corruption was supposed to be financial only, the outline fails to address, moral, idealogical, intelectual corruption and how govt tries to tackle it, resulting in violations of human rights. 5) Legislative aspect was ignored, how govt legislatiions posed to fight terrorism actually squeezes human rights. Patriot act after 9/11 in US is a good example of that. thanks |
