Dear users,

People seem to be spending too much time on preparing an outline rather than the actual essay itself. Remember people that an essay is a discussion of specific topic, producing impressive and detailed outline may distract the writer from focusing on the core issue, and thus producing irrelevant paragraphs/material.

I would advise everyone to keep their outline simple, not exhaustive for the sake of keeping the discussion simple, and relevant to the point.

As far as the outline is concerned, no doubt that it is impressive, and extremely dense in content, but please consider the feasibility of producing an essay using this outline.

In my humble opinion, you are aiming for something very ambitious here, and the outline is more focused on producing a white paper rather than an essay.

A fellow member pointed out that there is no contention which is apparent in your outline, therefore, it would be a futile exercise to comment or give marks on your outline, remember an essay is not a mere collection of paragraphs, it is a thought process, and the outline should at least give a hint of that process.

All the best to all candidates attempting this year

Default nice input

well, I do agree, not only outline, rather the whole essay should be well knitted. one should not go for lenghth at the cost of quality. I think the assessors are more concern about quality of your thoughts and quality of your fine writting.

I myself is bit confused. I have just started to work on essay, and my first step is to collect relevant material from different sources, after going through different perspectives on a given topic I will go for actual writting practice.

all senior members who have appeared in past exams and cleared the essay paper, please suggest me some important topics, so that my endeavor of collecting material remain specific.

also please share some ematerial, some good articles on
Democracy, terrorism, climate change, Islam in contemporary dynamics and Women empowerment. I am bit optimistic for these topics, what do you think?
I do hope all seniors will extend their help.

@ Mahikan

In a nutshell, an essay should be consist of the following:

Introduction ( Briefly explain what you intend to discuss and define your topic, for e.g. if you intend to discuss Global warming then start off with a definition.

Main body (Reasons, arguments, counter-arguments)

This part should be the heart and soul of your essay.

Discuss the effects of global warming, why we need to take action?, why some people think global warming is a scam? what action we can take to prevent global warming?

Conclusion ( Your opinion )

Express your opinion in accordance with the main body of the essay, your opinion should not be expressed in other part of the essay.

What ever you have written in the main body should be summed up in the conclusion, and in the end, give your opinion on the topic.

This is a very brief introduction to essay writing, I hope you will find it useful, as I keep reiterating, carry out your own research, and keep practicing
