An essay should be of about 1200 to 1500 words as far as its minimum length is concerned to fetch out the qualifying marks.

If your essay is logical, to the point, cohesive, and it contains material good enough, supported with some quotations and facts, then its' length does not matter. If it starts well and ends well and it is about 1200-1500 words then it will surely fetch fascinating marks, I can bet it!

regarding essay length,i being pms aspirant,want to know about PMS essay length. approximate word count to pass essay paper. 2013 essay word count was 4000-5000. whereas i wrote 3700 approximate word count. plz tell me,are they enough to pass PMS

Main thing which they require is the quality of your essay. If 3700 words-essay is not to-the-point and logical then you will not pass in it. On the other hand, however, a 2500-to-3000 words essay, well-written with logical and relavant stuff, well-started and well-ended will fetch you good marks.

Who can write 5000 meaningful words in three hours? Even 3700 are a lot of words. Usually people write less than 2000 words and still pass. If you plan to write more, you ruin the paper with either bad handwriting or rambling.

You must be joking I can not even believe that you wrote 3700 words in 3 hours. It is not a matter of story rather one has to produce such a data which is full of expression, clarity, arguments, anecdotes, narration, data, and last but not the least error free writing. Even if you have a good writing speed you can not exceed the limits of 2000 words at maximum because you have to write very carefully. You need not bother about the limit of essay rather should concentrate your attentions on quality of the essay :-p
