Yes you can... But better translate that in english after writing it in Urdu so that it can also illustrate its meaning and context. I myself wrote Iqbal's and Bahadur shah zafar poetry in Pak Affairs and History Paper.

the most relevant subject is prefer to write poetry. like urdu poetry in urdu poetry seems suitable and effective, while poetry in paper of history i dont think so suitable.

Now it varies from a person to person, his approach and his way of attempting paper. Agr sab ki soch aik jesi hoti tu everybody would have been a topper. This is what I did and Alhamdullilah my scores were satisfactory. If someone think it weird and shluld not be done, he/she has all the right to differ with my opinion

Regards,

Basically your approach should be to satisfy the examiner now its your way that how you can impress him/her.But as per my thinking ,writing poetry is not a good way rather than that you can write quotations. Thanks
