Without attempting to insult anyone, I would like to say that Government of Pakistan needs young, energetic and willing civil servants who can steer the nation out of crisis.

Old and woe-begone people, who opt to take CSS when they fail in all other pursuits in life, even if they pass the CSS, end up being a liability for the country.

The age limit is rightly set at 28. Remember one thing, policy makers may be looked down upon by everyone, yet they are policy makers, and they take the holistic view of things before deciding on something. They have set the limit at 28 (in Musharraf's regime) and the limit has not been changed now in a so-called democratic regime either. So, it means there is some logic behind this age limit.

Lastly, no one should believe that he has become an expert on policy issues just because he can log in to this forum and type a few lines.

For fresh candidates 28 years limit is justifiable in some sense. however,
The government allows 2 years age relaxation for candidates serving in govt dept/s. But i wonder why they dont allow the same age relaxation for autonomous public sector professional organization/regulatory authorities etc.
e.g. a Lecturer working in some govt college is allowed 2 years age relaxation but a professor/lecturer serving in some govt University is not (This is not fair).
I mean if some Assistant Professor(say: a PhD in international relations) is working on TTS(Tenure Track Scale) in some well repute public sector university(say PU, QAU, BZU,NDU etc.) and wants to join pakistan foreign services group then such persons should be allowed some relaxation(at least as it is allowed for govt education dept employee i.e. 2 years relaxation).

Or suppose some foreign qualified PhD in Economics (say a graduate/PhD from London School of Economics or Harvard) having experience in multinational well repute organizations (Say world bank, UN etc.) and wish to serve his/her country by joining civil service say: Commerce & Trade group.... then there should be some mechanism to accomodate such cases at least.

So, what I'm trying to say that for Fresh Candidates 28 years limit is justifiable. But for experienced candidates having higher qualification (MS/PhD); and having experience in public sector organizations/Regulatory authorities should be allowed some relaxation. At least they should be allowed the same 2 years relaxation provision which is allowed for persons serving in govt departments.

One should think about what is the difference between a school/college teacher/lecturer serving in Ministry of Education and a Lecturer in some public sector university say UET Lahore etc. Why the former is allowed the age relaxation and the later is denied.

regards,

I believe that there should be no age relaxation...but we cannot ignore our youth living in rural areas ..these poor-middle class, young girls/guys have to become bread winners of their family without the completion of their graduation.Resultantly, they cannot appear in Css exam. Most of the students do B.A at the age of 23 or 25,thatswhy,they dont find enough time for the proper prep of Css...Similarly,age limit should be increased but not more than 30 years...as 2 years mein koi old nhi h jata30 years bhi young age hi hai,,..

Default I am also in favor of age relaxation

Ag relaxation should be granted. A person with 30 years is more mature, dynamic and pragmatic.

Barri hairat ki bat hai un logon par jo yeh keh rahy hain k age extend nahi honi chahyay why????
yar dekho hamary country ki education policy 1 banda mulak ka toughest exam dy raha hai aur us ki qualification graduation???? i aur rural area mein logon ko time ka pata hi nahi chalta un ki age ziada ho jati hai,

yar jo 28 saal mein jawan hai young hai wo 2 saal mein kiya old ho jay ga?.

i think agar koi 28 years ka young hai to 30 years mein b wo young hi hai.

finally age should b relaxed till 30 years and 32 years for govt. employees. and qualification should b master degree.
