Dear Sabeen Amjad,

First ask yourself, You want to see yourself working under a harsh environment and abused by your seniors as working in private sector? Or You want to see yourself at elite position to work not only for yourself but also for the betterment of society of having a power which is blessed by Almighty ALLAH to serve humanity as a CSP officer?

Don't get lazy. Yes ! indeed you are bit late, but not very late to catch the train. few things i recommend you to pass through CSS. If you will follow my advice, I guarantee your success.

1) Switch off your cell phone
2) Put one thing in your mind, that passing CSS is the only solution of your problem
3) Read IMP threads of Compulsory and optional Subjects from CSS forum.
4) Daily 10-12 Hours preparation but with attentive mind.
5) Make notes of every thing you learned, even single line and idioms.
6) Last but not least, Start offering NEMAZ, the most compulsory to become successful not in this worldly life but hereafter.

Now Me, I started preparation since August, AlhamDulliAllah i have covered whole Course of 1200 marks. Now i am repeating everything. I did this in between August to October, it took me just three months. You can also do it. You have four months.

Get these Books, Do NOT BUY any other book than these

EDS`````````` = Prof. Akram Kashmiri ( I Covered EDS in 5 Days )
P.Affair``````` = Ikram Rabani and Get notes of Virtual University ( I covered in 6 Days )
C.Affairs`````` = Read Dawn and C.AFFAIR section of CSS forum.
English``````` = Read, Just Read because it will help to write better.
Precise & Composition = Buy R.Dhillion and Exploring the English enough to get good marks.

But again, All these things are effective when you offer Nemaz daily.

@ Sabeen Amjad.

I think if you can cover the syllabus for all those subjects that would be good enough, but you must be well prepared for all sort of questions. See the Islamiat paper 2009 which was quite demanding. I think you must consult 1 or 2 books on every subject to be successful. Plus Bunko has given some really good information related to books, so do follow it.

@Bunko

Brother, Although me is also on your side as for as confusion is concerned. On the contrast, I knew by many of people, headings should be avoided becuase it restricts you from delivering different arguments and details.

You should consult from your csp friends, what kind of "ESSAY" they had written because, it might be possible they used the headings in ECONOMICS related essays where to some extent it makes sense.
Pls, share your views after consulting which, I mentioned here.

To quench your thirst for knowledge is actually to increase the wealth of knowledge and knowhow. I add my little gained experience as thus.
work hard and go on with the saying that be optimistic and never be pessimestic bcz the passimestic is the one who finds difficulties in opportunities and the optimistic always finds out opportunitie and success in difficulties. keep up working hard, be slective in ur preparation for css be superior and unique from the crowd.

I had done Masters in English Literature before clearing the CSS Exams and I would advise you not to use headings in the essay paper. When you start your essay be like an artist who is sketching a given scenario on the canvas. Try to be illustrative. In the middle of the essay sound like an advocate, giving reasons, logic, facts, figures etc to support your point of view. At the end be like a judge who sums up the whole argument, sounding wise, judicious, truthful etc.

is there any logic in not using the headings? ok ! headings are not good, but why Afshan Manzoor uses headings in her essays? are headings going to bite the examiner?whether this is a dogma of bacon?
Q 1.what is the logic behind that?

@ bunko and bhutto
If thats all you want to hear, use headings. I don't know why just use them.?
I mean come on, you invited the advises, Right? There came many sense making, like from Kanwal Ali, Aarizahmed and other. As for as checker knowing what is where issue is concerned, I suppose checkers develop a whole picture of essay when they read one. There are some requirments of an essay, meet them and score. Good luck.
@ Bunko.

I would definitely tell you abt my marks in the essay paper. I think headings are not an issue; what matters is the material that you are providing. I used headings in all the questions in the exam; not only in the essay. Its not a story that you keep writing it without headings. I mean first you write an introduction then you come to the body of the essay; who will tell the examiner where the outline ends and the body starts? Even in the body of the essay first suppose i wrote abt the rights of women in islam, then i wrote the duties of women in islam. If headings are not used then everything would get mixed up. Isn't it??
Brother,

In my opinion, let me correct if I was wrong.

1. Writing an essay on social issue do'nt required headings. (because gist of essay matters not headings while writing on social issues)
2. Headings required if we are writing on Financial/Economic Topics as it will ease the checker to evaluate.
3. Writing on essay regarding islam/beliefs etc. like women in islam can be wrote by using HEADINGS as it will definately ease checker and provide some room to evaluate.

Conclusion:

For writing on Economic, financial issues required essay and as far as islamic issues are concerned, one can use headings even can ignore it Ratio 50:50 but on the other hand, Social issues does'nt required headings.

Please, seniors correct me, if i am wrong. I have just mentioned what I come to know after asking from different friends.

well headings or no headings...create your own impression and style and follow that. Atleast that's what i believe in!!!

Remember, a living fish swims against the current! :)

Anyways what amazes me is the frequent references being made to the length of an essay being 25 pages. is it sides or pages?

For any topic you could write an essay worth a 100 pages, but the goal is not to produce a paper weighing kgs! i mean if you could explain everything that is on your mind in 10 to 15 pages, that should suffice!!!

Quality rather than Quantity!
