My take on foreign aid question(bit astrayed approach I guess):
I started off with "false economy growth" in Pakistan immediately after 9/11. Service sectors grew immensely in 2004-2006 due to foreign aid but then the war got more intense with impending US failure in the offing. The US aid dwindled and heavy reliance had to be shifted towards loans. The loans had their own costs having stringent conditions, compromise on sovereignty, cuts in defence budget, increase in GST. The service sector which had progressed so swiftly, with little growth in industrial sector, due to abundant inflow of aid in 2004-2006 took its toll in 2007 resulting in the emergence of worst energy crisis in Pakistan since its inception. And then I focused more on all issues which come on the shoulders of aid resulting in compromises and so on... This question was not earth shattering, but not vanilla as well! |

The possible impacts Pakistan faces due to climate change include: - increased likelihood of floods and droughts - Receding of glaciers - Reduced water availability through increased evapo-transpiration - Increased temperatures (impact on crops and agriculture) At Independence, Water Availability per capita in Pakistan was more than 3000 cm3 while today it is less than 1000cm3. A country with less than 1000cm3 is considered a water stressed country. Water is important as 40% of it is used in the Agriculture sector of Pakistan. The sector provides food to the entire population, employs 45% of labor force and contributes 21% of GDP. About 40% of the Indus System Riverflow is through melting of glaciers. If the glaciers eventually melt through climate change, Pakistan will be in deep deep trouble. The population of the country is expected to rise to 350 million in 2050, This will reduce water available per capita further while also pushing demand for agricultural produce. Hence, Water and Climate CHange go hand in hand. Taking this into account, Pakistan needs to preserve its water resources. This can be done through conservation and through conserving Pakistan's rights over water against India. You could mention the Indus Water Treaty here and the three Indian projects on the Chenab and Jehlum. I hope this finally answers your question. Cheers |

Due to glacier meltdown Pakistan is going to face less flows in rivers. That will cause concerns in Pakistan and it will have to look to India and aage aap khud samajhdar hain . That is the significance of water conflict between India and Pakistan in global climate change perspective . Is that satisfactory now

well this question is a good one n also related to globalwarming.as due to global warming ,there is melting of ice on glaciers that accounts for 1% on the whole.this is beleived to be incresed by 4% in future.as most of rivers flow all the way from india to pakistan .that"s why there may tension arise on water issue between two countries.as india building damns n it may employ it to decrese or increase water flow to pakistan as it had been beleived earlier also for which pakistan got to seek help from international community regarding its share in water and this has given rise to pacts.also in rainy season,as pakistan has not built any damn yet n no planning for conservation of water so rains along with india releasing water from her damn can seriously pose a threat to pakistan.thats what i beleive should be a theme to answer the question.
