I consulted 2 books for every 100 marks subject. Feldman for paper 1 and 2 both. Rakhshanda Shahnaz for paper 1, Zarrin Bukhari for paper 2.

There are people out there with much better marks than I have. You should solicit advice from them as well. Go for the book which go with your aptitude, like some books contain headings, some contain dispersed material and need some efforts to be organized, some are good just to clear your concepts like Feldman etc. Go to the bookshop, see 3 to 4 books for yourself and then choose 2 of them. Feldman is a must though, I would say

Viva ruined me..........I had excellent viva but I think chairman targeted me for my views regarding banning appointments of armed forces personnel in CSS......I later came to know that he himself joined PSP through same route as he was a major in Pak Army when joined PSP.....

Damn bro! How did that topic come up during the interview? What were your arguments and how did the Chairman counter you? I ask because I myself have pretty similar views on the subject. Except that I feel that they should not be banned outright but should be given notional numbers according to some formula devised by the FPSC by converting their Army performance (ACRs, comments of their former CO etc.) into numbers. The way they are given notional numbers equal to the topper of their batch now is sheer injustice and murder of merit.

Default An assumption

those who scored less in viva often blame panel for penalizing due to some reason. The marks of that particular person in the essay, current affair and pak affair are also low in most of the cases if not in all.
those who scored well in these 4 subjects (english,essay,P.A,C.A) deserve to criticize the panel for their misjudgment or bias.
i may be wrong but it is observed by going through the mark sheets of most of the qualifiers
