Default General knowledge 120 marks

Is there any change in this rule for css 2014 ?

Previously one had to get 120 marks in all 3 gk papers in order to pass. If you see css 2014 rules it is written that one must get 40 marks in all compulsory papers to pass . Is there any change in this rule ? Kindly confirm this .

Brother it's not 40 rather 40% is given. GK has three papers 1, 2 and 3. So, we have to get 40% marks in GK, which means 120 out of 300 to get pass. For evidence you can see a DMC here at post no. 151. Here Mr.Usman has got 36 marks in C.A individually but combinely in GK he has got 136 and in accepted marks' column his marks are accepted. Moreover, the rules for CE-2013 and CE-2014 are the same. So this means that we have to get 120 combinely, the old rule is applicable still. Proof is here:

Thank you brother . I know it was applicable in 2013 . I want to confirm for 2014.They may have changed it like they changed the rule in case of Nate i.e you pass if you get 600 or more irrespective of not passing in one of optionals.

The same would be the case with CE2014, but I'm wondering that you gonna appear in 2014 and must have applied for that but you couldn't or I should say didn't read the rules and regulations for CE2014. Have some homework bro.

So you want to say that u have memorized all rules of 2014 ? Did u know that rule of passing irrespective of failing in an optional if your aggregate is above 600 has changed ? I asked a simple question and thank you for your suggestion ( pun intended ) .

No dear, certainly not because I'm not among the aspirants of CE2014 as I've already Exhausted my chances but you should have gone through those rules and regulations. Moreover, don't take my post to your heart. I've a great respect for all the members on the forum (you included), I just wanted to motivate you to read the rules in your own best interest. Good Luck!

@0902!
Brother even in CE-2012 and 2013 rules i haven't seen anything specific about GK papers that we have to get 120 to get through it as a whole. And same is the case with CE-2014 rules, i.e nothing is mentioned specifically about GK papers. And one thing more, previously they never considered the rule of failing a candidate who failed an optional and crossed 50% in aggregate, even this rule was there in CE-2012 as well, but now because of the new chairman they followed this rule this year. So everything seems doubtful to me now. As in ce-2013 nothing was mentioned about GK papers and still they passed the candidates in GK papers based on 120 marks as total. But we are not sure at all that they will again pass the candidates in GK papers as a whole. Remember no rule is there in CE-2013 and CE-2014 as well about GK papers, but still followed it in CE-2013. However, it is not obvious that they will consider this 120 marks rule in CE-2014 as well or not. No one can say anything about it.
P.S someone(an aspirant) mailed me that in CE-2014 we have to get 40 marks in all GK papers individually.

Yes exactly this is a reason why I was asking about it . I called fpsc facilitation center today and they didn't know anything about it either . Rules are vague and can be turned as per their liking .

Brother rules are not vague, actually FPSC itself is a vague organization. Now from their rules it can be clearly said that the next time they can slaughter many candidates' future because of this. So it means we have to take at least 40 marks in each GK subject to be on a safe side.
