It feels really strange to post a reply here. lol .. I'm also planning to appear for css 2014 but have NO idea what to do, and how to start. The subjects I might choose are journalism, sociology, punjabi and islamic history ... :S

You have chosen right subjects in my opinion you should go ahead with. For remaining one subject you can opt Internation Law, it will be a good choice. For starting preparation finalize your subjects, get good books for them. First of all you should focuss over english composition and correct sentence structure as it will help you in all subjects. Try to read dawn on daily basis to improve knowledge, vocab, writting style and expressions.

Actually the reason why i opted for Chemistry is my educational back ground. I am chemical engineer, that why this subject will be some what easy for me to understand and innovate if their comes some tricky questions.

you are right but, scoring trend matters a lot in css.
many aspirants who are doctors and masters in chemistry but they didn't opt chemistry because it is tough as well as not scoring.
you should must opt those subjects which are easy and scoring.
choice is yours.
Qualifiers like, Ali Mallah will help you out in this regard.

I need your kind help in clearing some confusion about scoring and non-scoring.
As per my discussion with Aspirants and CSP officers during my Government training (I have experience of 1 year in Govt. Sector) i was not able to clear this issue.

Is it not the case that technical subjects are more scoring than the arts subjects ? since technical subject like chemistry is confined in defined line of action, meaning that there could be no personel judgment or opinion , all is by the book. in addition, the idea or answer of any questions is clearly explained by use of formulas, figure and equations. So there is less need of long theory to justify the answer.

How we define the term scoring or non-scoring ?

Sorry i was unable to get you, in what regard Ali Mallah can guide me ?
