and lastly would like to know should I join an academy for preparation or self study is sufficient ?
w/salam,
I would say, select your subjects according to your educational background, interest and scoring trend because scoring trend matters a lot.
Psychology,
Islamic history,
journalism,
I law,
Arabic and regional languages are very scoring subjects.
you should read DAWN newspaper and exploring of English by Saadat Ali Shah are good source to cover english.
you must do focus on grammar to ameliorate your writing skill.
academy is not necessary, this is up to you.
stay happy.

replace Internation relation with Internation Law.
IR is not scoring.

welcome to all new aspirants on css forum. it's a fact that subject selection with regards to marks matters a lot . but it is also a fact that no subject is marks scoring , it's the command on subject that helps to secure good marks. it's good to ask for guidance in case of subject selection but it's good to make final decision in case of subject of your own . because in the end no-one takes the blame of one's failure.
select those subjects in which you are interested because your interest paves to success.
good wishes for all .

agreed, but its a paradox that one should opt subjects according to ons's interest.

novices have not enough knowledge about the nature of subject which matters a lot. i e syllabus, trend, attempting stratiges, analytical approch of a subject, digrams and much more... subject selection play a vital role in allocation. subjects which are broad in nature they always proved low scoring ......

further subect must be selected with , 60% scoring trend 20% on the advice of seniors 10% on the interest and 10% behalf of background......

one who have to get success , must intersted in all subjects and be ready to read with full concentration it is a key to success.......

stay blessed..

I disagree with your subject selection criteria, one should select their subjects 100% based on interest, knowledge and background, and dont worry about scoring trends. People get high marks in low scoring subjects too, just that majority can't do well doesn't mean that you disregard your favourite subject.
