Because it has been brutally butched this time and it can happen next year too owing to highly analytical nature of its paper.

Now, considering your question what I have analyzed is that I.R demands more analytical and discussion based approach while Political Science is a bit plain and easy as compared to I.R. I too considered opting it in CSS but did not go for it because of the analytical and technical demand of answers.
Tbh I adopted smart strategy for preparing Political Science by viewing the trend of questions in the Past Papers (but just in case of philosophers and constitutions). Besides that, I had recovered all the syllabus.
Political Science is a doable task obviously if you are determined. Good luck
Thanks for your reply. I have prepared rest of my subjects and your reply has motivated me to go with political science. What books and strategy would you recommend to finish the syllabus smartly? My senior has recommended me 5 books: written by Judd harmon, mazhar ul haq, sherwani, kaeley & hamid khan. What would you recommend?

I prepared philosophers from Judd Harmon Book and I made rest of notes from Internet. You can find notes on Muslim philosophers by "Monk" in Political Science section of this forum. Do read them as they'll help you.
I covered all general topics from Mazhar ul Haq's book.
For constitutions, I read book of Muhammad Sarwar (plus internet).
and for rest of the general topics of Paper II , I bought ready made notes book of Political Science from ''Dogar Sons''. they can help you in understanding the concept but don't merely focus on the book. Also consult from internet and add things in those notes. It will help you to come up with something different and unique.

Brother if you see Business ad paper 2017, it was a mix of tricky & straightforward questions. I attempted Q 3,4,7 & 8 which were pretty simple.
I put real life examples in all e.g. in Q 3 "Product life cycle"; use your daily routine products which you use in your life for giving examples e.g. Advertisements by the companies to give boost to their products for instance.
In Q 4. "appraisal techniques" I used my own company's criteria as a real life example.
Q 7. related to "ratios" was a piece of cake for everyone.
Q 8. already asked to explain the topic with example. So, use simple exemplary figs. e.g. 50,000 & just go ahead.

Try to use models where ever seems possible e.g. SWOT, Porter's 5 forces etc.
In general, I focused on presentation as well. I have a fair writing & I used graph, illustrations, headings etc. where possible.
The subject is easy overall if you have a background. I got 72 but somebody can score more in it. Have faith! All the best!

Hey Anum,

I have opted for Public administration. now after seeing the score trend, i am fearsome. can you please share your question attempting strategy with me? plus how to tackle questions, which are really out of scope like prismatic model and judicial review w.r.t. watergate scandal?

Exactly, that may be the reason. Almost same case is with me 401 marks including fail subjects. 34 marks in Current Affairs, 35 Marks Pak Affairs, 48 marks IR , this result was unimaginable for me.
