Well it depends of several criterias. Not just number of vacancies but the quota province wise and open merit etc....
More simply if we ll say then as per my half baked knowledge, the candidates allocated last year had their marks along with viva marks as follows

Total Marks (Written+viva) of the Last candidates allocated in CSS 2009:

Punjab

855 Sana Ghous
855 Huma Kanwal

Sindh

781
792
800

KPK

824
814

BALUCHISTAN

828
846

Well these are the minimum marks that went through my eyes last time. So it states that people from punjab should minimum score more than 860-870 to secure least position to be allocated and rest of the provinces are mentioned above...

Note:
I hereby state that there may be mistake in above observation because it is entirely based upon my personal observation in the forum. If anybody denies the facts he keeps the right to respond....

@Rishzz

Thank you brother for giving a detail assessment of the 2009 trend.

@Farvah

In 2008 the average marks in interview were 140.Lowest marks in interview were 125 and highest were 200.Faisal Shahzad who secured 11th position in CSS 2008 got 200 marks-please correct me if i am wrong.The outstanding marks ranged between 170-200 in 2008 and those who secured these marks could be counted on fingers.

In 2009 the average marks in interview were 180.Lowest marks were around 135 and highest 230.However,this time the above average marks fluctuated between 195-230.

It entirely depends on the trend whether the panel would award more marks or less.But,certainly it was a break from the past trend of 2008.One will have to keep one's fingers crossed on this issue.

Please if any other candidate could come up with more concrete facts,his efforts will be highly appreciated.

Regards.
