Default Lower poverty rates after raising poverty lines

Hi
I have a question regarding poverty statistics in Pakistan.
The World Bank has recently raised its poverty lines:
Quote:
$1.25 to $1.90 (PPP) a day
and
Quote:
$2.00 to $3.10 (PPP) a day
According to old poverty lines of World Bank, the poverty in Pakistan was:
Quote:
in 2008, poverty rate was 21.0% at $1.25 (PPP) a day
and
Quote:
in 2008, poverty rate was 60.2% at $2.00 (PPP) a day.
After World Bank raised its poverty line, World Bank itself saying that the poverty ratios in the world will increase due this raised level. But the poverty data of Pakistan is showing a different picture. According to new poverty line:
Quote:
in 2013, poverty rate was 6.07% at $1.90 (PPP) a day
and
Quote:
in 2013, poverty rate was 36.88% at $3.10 (PPP) a day
How this is possible? Because
(i) Poverty line is raised, and
(ii) Poverty ratios do not fall rapidly over the period of 5 years.

Can anyone explain this to me?
Regards
