They do not prepare current economic issues,
They do not take care or or give too much to the mathematical part,
or They do not have comprehensive preparations.
And the one who covers these aspects well, can score good marks i believe.
when i said this i was send the statistics by a seniors in which most of the candidate could get more than 120.. while the others having opted geography and indo pak, got more than 140.... decision is always urs we just suggest. and no one discourage u to opt economics but competition is of scores not the subjects....

@ Sana
Hope you be doing good with your studies. I want to know from which University you are doing your Master in Economics and what courses you are taking in it. Actually in my BSc Honors, all the times we have been being told that it is equivalent to a Masters degree and we have covered 8 courses in 8 semesters. I want to know if those courses are similar to the ones tought at other universities.
We had these courses;
Microeconomics (2 SEMESTERS)
Macroeconomics (2 SEMESTERS)
Statistical Economics (1 SEMESTER)
Mathematical Economics (1 SEMESTER)
Econometrics (2 SEMESTERS)
International Trade (1 SEMESTER)
WTO and Globalization (1 SEMESTER)
Managerial Economics (1 SEMESTER)
Development Economics (1 SEMESTER)
Urban Economics (1 SEMESTER)
Public Finance and Public Policy (1 SEMESTER)
Money, Banking, and Finance (1 SEMESTER)
Project Appraisal (1 SEMESTER)
Environmental Economics (1 SEMESTER)
Labour Ecconomics (1 SEMESTER)

Yes, I have consulted my teachers regarding marks in Economics, they asked me a question that I want to share here. They gave me two choices and these were Economics (I have been through to it for four years) and any other subject (to which I am not much familiar). They asked that you have one whole year and you can go either way, but at the end which side would be beneficial for you to be excellent in. And my answer was Economics.
Well, rest is everyone's own choice and ease that one feels with a subject matters a lot I think.

Imran Saifi

@ Sana
I forgot the other day that we have had Islamic Economics too.
I have been busy at home for last three days and will get free by tomorrow night, started my studies again by the day after tomorrow. I am going to start Economics and Everyday Science then.
I shall give you my schedule and sources the day after tomorrow.
And another thing, I learnt that every second person makes you confuse when you ask about the optional subjects whatever you have choosen. So I have decided to stick to my subjects and see nothing else, and I use to listen to Abida Perveen's ""Ishq men teray koh e gham, ser pe lia jo ho so ho...Aesh o nishaat e zindgi, chhorr dia jo ho so ho"" and its for Economics, lols.

Regards,
Imran Saifi

Thumbs up @ Sana, shall we start?

I think a daily task is a better way to start with. It is so because it will not make us reluctant of the work to be done today and we shall not put it till tomorrow.
I am going to start with microeconomics topics "Consumer Behaviour, Determination of Market Demand and Supply" for tomorrow 16th March, 2010.
What do you see for your schedule? Because you can better line up your timings for different tasks.
Further following the below link, I would also take first five units of MCQs test of Oxford University Online Resource Centre...it is very helpful online test which marks the test online instantly. It is useful in measuring self

http://www.oup.com/uk/orc/bin/978019...01student/mcqs

Just copy this link, and paste and search it in the address bar.
And I think we should discuss our preparation daily as well.
You can contact me at my email address given in my profile.

Good luck!!

Regards,
Imran Saifi

You can consult Microeconomics by N. Gregory Mankiw
and macroeconomics by richard t. Foryen
They are the best books among all i went through during my study.
Some topics from Todaro, latest, economic survey, five year plans and Akbar Zaidi's book.

thats all you need to study :p
