IR wala koi to senior guide kary
Seniors,
I am opting IR for CE-18. I dont have IR background. I am facing difficulties in preparation of IR. I can not understand that from where to prepare the IR paper. I have posted for the books and no one replies seriously. Currently I have IR by parakash chander and IR by ikram rabbani. I dont want to study ikram rabbani first. I want to develop and gain some knowledge from internationally or nationally published books first. But i can not understand it well. I need serious advice/guidance from seniors who understand it and prepared it well. Note: A person can help just in case he/she really wants to help as I have faced some non serious persons already. |

thanks for the reply...
I want to know about the books of IR from which one should prepare it... fpsc has recommended so many books which can not be read all... should i study one whole book of IR for concepts and in depth knowledge or just prepare the fpsc mentioned topics. please suggest some topic wise books also. and how much would it take to prepare IR I mentioned two books above. are they enough for preparation? |

For the basics, I suggest you to watch IR lectures by Parkash Sarangani on youtube. I am posting here the link http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...55uOyrqotoxibF. Apart from that, another book which I found really helpful is IR by Joshua Goldstein. Now, answer of your second question, O believe that one month is enough to prepare both parts of IR, as I did both of them in about 20 days. In the last, only prepare the topics mentioned in syllabus. Sent from my ALE-L21 using Tapatalk |

2. I have not seen aspirants preparing from Fpsc recommended books . A book from any good publisher plus a book maybe in e-book format of any foreign author would suffice . 3 Other options you have got is that you can use some of the books recommended by fpsc as reference books , only if you are good at deciding that which topic is written better in which book . For IR ,fpsc has had recommended some excellent books ,even the book of any good publisher has good the writings from these recommended books . These are some of the books that you can use as a reference; >World Politics: Trend and Transformation, Ninth Edition-------Charles W. Kegley JR. and Eugene R Wittkopf >Understanding International Relations, Second Edition---------- Chris Brown >Politics Among Nations------------------ Hans j. Morgenthau >The Globalization of World Politics: An Introduction to International Relations--------- John Baylis and Stev 4 Btw , you can make up concepts by studying one good book thoroughly and by getting knowledge about the things that you are studying from internet. This is the best way you can do it because you have not got whole year at your disposal to prepare IR . Time-span keeps on changing from person to person,if you ask me then it would be 2 months with two other optional subjects , because i get bored studying one subject at a time . Otherwise , i think 20 to 25 days for parts 1 and same for part 2 would be sufficient.

Dear brother...actually you are wrongly getting the sense of iR subject..it is not only related to bookish preparation..actually there is a proper way of griping on.this subject, which is following.
1) firstly foremost important thing is that, formally understand the terminologies used in IR e.g imperialism, colonialism, realpolik etc ( not cramming just go through). 2) secondly, now, here is where yours preparation begin. Start with the portion.of wars which is foremost important to understand the whole IR because if war portion is not so clear than rest whatever u would read it will be wastage of time and a pinch of salt that left in.your mind is just a crammed portion. 3) after understanding the war portion, now directly go to theories. Because theory itself is nothing just one or two line the whole examification and justification.is from war portion. 4) now come to conceptual portion.of paper 1, like foreign.policy, war and types, national.interest and so on.. 5) once you have a grip on.all that you will understand by yourself what actually the very first topic IR and its evolution.is.. 6) foremost important thing is analysis..mature youre analysis and try to sort out examples of every heading or topic and co-relate to the contemporary examples of world. |
