Default Length Of Question ?

Hey guys ,
I hope u r all doing well with ur preps and may God bless us all with 180 marks each

I am just baffled about the length of the question . Lets say , u get a question , What are ptype and ntype semi conductors. Now we can write max 3 pages or 4 pages if u produce some work about PNjunction as well (which i think should be written because they have only asked us about ptype and ntype not their junction. views needed) What else can be written about it , providing their production and figures and explaination of charge carriers etc.

Please share your views brodas !! Seniors views req as well !

As teacher guided me about such problems is that,
You have to guess about this from the marks of the question.
if its 4-5 marks questions.
then definition of both and examples.
if 20 then full details.
everything and if 10 then short detail (as time allows)

ok , lets say its 12 marks question , as it generally is , we will give figures , production , about holes and carriers ....what else? it will take about 4 pages max ! is dat okay ?

AOA

I'm not experienced in this regard. But what I'm advised by my teachers in B.Sc is that either the question is of 5 marks or of 12 u've to write all the detail required to clear the concept of it. It may take 4 to 5 pages or may it take just 1 page no matter. Take care only of the quality of ur answer.

Regards

Okie this is creating confusions !!! ...
@ayesha......What i am concluding from ur reply is , if a semiconductor question is there , and lets say it says , what is a semiconductor ? explain . (10marks) , now we are gona write , semiconductor defination , its types, Little bit about pn junction , and maybe a l more about transistors ????????? as you say one must give full details ,so i suggest we are also writing uses .

I think not to write about transistor but only give heading of its(semiconductor) uses and write shortly about transistor in few lines only in a point. As only semiconductors' uses are required.

Default Physics paper attempt

Salam brother,

Glad to see that a lot of friends are motivated to go for physics.
well the length of the answers really matters,as it was a point of concern to me in my first attempt in CE 2010.However being an Electronics Engineer,I would suggest these tips.

a. Make your paper as much visual as possible,No body has stamina to read bulky and wordy questions.
b. Include Block diagrams( to indicate functional flow),equations( to explain the factors) ,graphs and tables (if applicable).

e.g For n type and p type : (for 20 Marks question ,3-4 pages enough)

1. Defination( max 4 lines)
2. Construction( 4 lines with diagram)
3. Operation (1-2 page),this is the point where you have put your knowledge, but not in terms of words, include part b of the above.

4. Applications( 5-6 points)
5. Limitations( 4 points)

c. visualization of the paper highly increases the number of pages.positively effecting the criteria of relevant approach and attention of the examiner.

d. I would recommend extreme use of pencil.

in my opinion length in physics or in any other science paper do not matter at all
but the most importNT THING one must follow is
answer the question which is asked
i mean if the examiner told u to write the definition of transistor or told u to write the definition of photo electric effect for 15 marks or for 20 marks(i m highly hypothetical here) you should write the definition only and a figure to support ur answer only
otherwise the examiner will take it as your inefficiency to understand the question(you may write other than that but no more than 1 page)
in short jitna question pocha jai utna hi jawab do(pages do not matter at all)
ziada writing se tum khud ko expose karo gay and nothing else

I appreciate Dolokhov's reply. As physics is a technical subject & we have to answer what exactly has been asked. As, one of my teacher advised me regarding the solution, "The examiner is concerned only with the relevant answer regardless of the marks mentioned against the question".
There is a teacher who gave me ZERO Marks in the objective portion of My Engineering paper as why I have Ticked or Crossed Instead of Encircling the appropriate answer As Instructed in The paper.
