AoA/
i don't know whether which book is best for the preparation of Muslim history and culture. however, a book that i have read is ''A Short History of Islam'' written by K Ali. You will find in this all topics that need to studied from the competitive point of view.

@ Sabeen Amjad

Dear I would suggest u to get a copy of (A short History of the SARACENS) by Syed Ameer Ali. It covers almost all the topics of Islamic History and Culture paper - I and II. It also contains Maps, Illustrations and Genealogical Tables, that will help u prepare in a short span of time and score good.

Good Luck

I have gone through the book MD Zafar on the subject and in my view this book is more than enough for the subject.
PK Hitti is also helpful but it doesnt cover all the topics for the second paper topics like Muslims in Spain and Fatmid rule you need to consult other books any ways in my view those who want to opt IH&C must read the K Ali's book to make his/her concept clear and then go through other books.
