What about PROBABILITY LEARNING?

After that lets move onto Motivation.
  • Define Motivation. List the various theories of Motivation and explain any one of them.
  • In what ways biogenic motives differ with sociogenic motives? Support your views in the light of theoretical and experimental researches conducted recently.
  • Elucidate this type of motive where the person is strongly motivated with “the desire to perform an act to gain a reward or to avoid undesirable consequences.”

probability learning is concerned with experimental psychology
subjects were trained in the noncontingent binary choice situation under one of two levels of event probability and payoff . These data were used to evaluate the ability of the Reinforcement-Extinction (R-E) Model and the Weak-Strong (W-S) Conditioning Model to describe marginal and first-order response-event dependencies throughout learning and second-order response-event dependencies and run curves during the last 100 trials

biogenic motives originate in biological needs

Hunger motive
Thirst motive
Sex motive
Temperature motive (need for appropriate
body temperature)
Excretory motive (need to eliminate bodily
wastes)
Sleep and rest motive
Activity motive (need for optimal level of
stimulation and arousal)
Aggression motive

social motivesoriginate in social experiences

Achievement motive (need to excel)
Affiliation motive (need for social bonds)
Autonomy motive (need for independence)
Nurturance motive (need to nourish and protect others)
Dominance motive (need to influence or control others)
Exhibition motive (need to make an impression on others)
Order motive (need for orderliness, tidiness, organization)
Play motive (need for fun)

Theories of motivation

homeostatic theory(hunger , glucostatic ,lipostatic theories)
Instinct Approaches
Drive-reduction Approaches
Arousal Approaches
Incentive Approaches
Cognitive Approaches
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
i will explain maslow or homeostatic theories

You are right. Core of the answer lies in the 'need for achievement'. Type of the motive is socio-genic. I understand incentive theory explains it well, but why are you saying it as a type?

We can explain, the Maslow's theory as well. As we are talking about NEED for achievement here. Comment on it. I am just trying to augment to justify the length of the answer without sounding ill-logical. What do u think?

@doc

What experiments and recent researches you will mention for socio-genic motives?

biologic motives explained by homeostatic theory they are latest (by latest i mean 10-20 yrs old)
sociogenic you can write achievement experiments/sexual studies and trends
or explain both in terms of sexual motives
describe sociogenic and biologic motives give their example explain latest theories being done on both motives
