can women be equal to men in pakistan?

I HAVE ATTEMPTED THIS TOPIC

VI.FUTURE OF WOMEN IN PAKISTAN

future of women is bright in pakistan regarding to their status
its reasons are:

1. Independent media
2. independent judiciary

i have quoted in the last:
constitution of pakistan includes an article which says :

"there will be no discrimination on the basis of gender"

so independent judiciary will also make efforts to give equality to women in Pakistan.

VII. Conclusion

That makes 2464 words in total. :D
I revised the paper and made sure that there were no grammatical mistakes. My sentences were short and to the point. I followed my outline strictly. I quoted from my political science notes and also some Quranic verses. I completed the paper 20 minutes earlier than the alloted time.

And yes, I rocked.

I thank Lord of heavens.

Check my Essay Please

This is a re-post, I posted this in the 2010 Exam section as well.

Dear fellows, AlhumduLILLAH, today's paper went well, I just have doubts about my Essay, and I would like someone to comment on it.

I chose the topic, Religion has done more harm and help human relations in the world.

I will just write the points I wrote.

Introduction
-How over the span of history, religion has been forefront for many wars and bloodshed.
-How from it's inception, it has been a cause of dissent and divergence between people.
-How, we need to exemplify the plight caused to humans by religion and analyze whether religion was the sole factor.

Beginning of Religion
-Expulsion of Adam and Eve, creation of the world, start of man kind.
-Guidance of Man kind, broadly, divine religions and man-made.
-Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Zionism.

Consequences of Religion
-Plight of Bani-Israel, Prophet Musa, stood against Pharaohs.
-Crucifixion of Jesus, although he was considered a shepherd and guide.
-Persecution of Muhammad P.B.U.H, and forced migration to Medina.
-Arab Isreal wars.
-Hindu Muslim issues in the Subcontinent.

Analysis of the above events
-Religion used as a tool and abused.
-Real motives were hegemonic and greedy.
-Cruel rulers did not like the teachings of religion and enlightenment of public.
-Hidden political agendas, religion used as a pretext.

Examples of Religious Help
-Treaties between Muslims and non-Muslims.
-Charter of Medina
-Hindu-Muslim Unity, possible in practice, but did not work due to personal revenges and agenda.
-Religion preaches peace and equality.

Non-religious Plight upon Man kind
-WWI, WWII, Jewish Holocaust by Nazi Hitler.
-Aggressions by Secular India and secular US.
-Clash of Civilizations, East vs West.
-Arms and resource race, competition to become number one.
-World domination and Colonial period did more harm to humans than religion.

Current Scenario
-Colonialism replaced by Neo-colonialism
-Political motives to exploit other nations
-Terrorism, associated with religion
-Islam under direct attack - Defense of Islam, Religion of peace etc.

-Conclusion
-All religions teach peace and not violence.
-Marked events through history, man fought before popularity of religions.
-Innate nature of man to dominate others.
-Religion used as a pretext, Instigation between sects for political agenda.
-The relations between mankind are strained due to our own problems and limitations and policies of exploitation and dominance, religion does not really have a role in it.
-Being a human, responsibility to seek out the truth and the true religion.
-If followed properly, religion will not be the cause, but a discouragement from violence and bloodshed.
-Humans need to put their act together, otherwise a WWIII may happen, and we may not be able to survive it.

These are the points I remember, but I think these were pretty much all. I am in doubt, if I handled it okay, no one in my center or friends attempted this topic, and I am quite upset, since I have been told it was a bad choice for essay, so I would appreciate honest comments, I pray I make through this, InshALLAH Ameen.

Thank you.

mangat1 Saturday, March 06, 2010 08:00 PM

I'm preparing for 2011. Although I didn't appear in 2010 but the paper seems interesting, it wasn't difficult according to me. Those who appeared this time are so lucky that they had a start with such a paper.
Best of Luck everyone !
I pray you all be blessed by ALLAH ALMIGHTY.

@ New Candidate
i think this outline is not enough. you know you got to be relevant to your outline and how can you write 2500 to 3500 with this much outline

@ Silent Volcano
Your outline is awesome. I pray may you find success. AMEEN

@ Hunain

Your outline is good. It covers a lot. You could write a lot. It shows your study and vast knowledge. Its great but I find one thing here that you have mentioned about the current scenario but not as much as you should have done because there's a lot of stuff that one can write. You might have missed a lot of current affairs regarding the essay topic as you haven't mentioned much about the current situation. This is something that I would have NEVER missed in the paper.
These are just my views.
I pray you score a lot.
AMEEN

Hunain Saturday, March 06, 2010 08:32 PM

ty bro, you are probably right, I did mention the current scenario in what ever way I could relate with the whole body, I wanted to emphasize and narrate events over the whole history, since the topic didnt state anything to imply a contemporary approach, so I covered it through what ever history I could...it was very vast, and I had to finish it as well, otherwise I would just go on writing...had to wrap it up too, so did not go much into details, just basic arguments, since it was an argumentative essay and not a factual one so to speak.

and Ameen :)

@ Mangat1;

Dear, Quality matters not quantity. I know many guys who have passed CSS exam with 12 pages of essay. Essay needs to be full of facts and to the point. Beating about the bush is not the key point to get success in CSS.

firstly , i don't think so it matters a lot.but to some extent it can help u to extract some more marks from the examiner.and finally,i have also heard that 11 pages are enough to pass the essay paper but with a relavent information.

don't worry now leave it to Allah.we did our best :)

some of them i am not recalling at the moment.

umarabbas Saturday, March 06, 2010 11:15 PM

@saba

Dear...yours was a nice effort but, i am afraid, in the wrong direction. it would have been a marvelous effort if the essay was on title of terrorism and its implications or anything similar..

this essay demanded terrorism in context with dialogue..

although i didnot attempt this essay but i wrote down its outline...

according to me it should have been like this:

What is a dialogue
why is it important during conflicts
leading examples
terrorism of today
its root causes
dialogue and terrorism today
examples of dialogues with terrorists
why is it necessary today?
when to start the dialogues and on what grounds?
conclusion.

in your essay the word dialogue barely seems to come out in the limelight..

though i am not an authority and your effort was a pretty nice one...the reason i dropped it out was that it was vast, and i thought it would be attempted by many...:P
is here anyone who has written on "why is there no status of third gender in Pakistan?" :)
yeah i wanted to go for this topic in a cynical fashion.. i mean criticizing the society for its negligence of basic rights for men, women, chidren, elderly let alone the third gender....then found it too repungent :P

I hope you did !

Sociologist PU Sunday, March 07, 2010 08:31 AM

So the war has begun in exam halls !
Although i am not an expert in this field, but i liked the essay of Hunain after reviewing all in this thread. :clap
Seems no canidate mentioned the recently passed law of women protection, while describing the govt's efforts for the equal status of women in socety.
Anyway, wish u all best of luck, keep the spirit high !

courageneverdies Sunday, March 07, 2010 10:40 AM

Please advice....

09. Religion has done more harm than help to human relations in the world.

This was the essay I attenpted.

I won't reproduce the outline, its just the same like others who attempted this.

I tried to use all Argumentation, (by presenting anti-theses and arguing on questions that may appear in my readers' mind), Description, Narration, (How terrorists misuse the concepts of Religion; narration of a suicide bomber turned with the aid of religion) Exposition and Definition (A bit about how Religion is defined).

A plus, I didn't put emphasis only on inter-religious intolerance but also discussed intera-religious intolerance (sectarian conflicts Shiits vs Sunnis, Protestants vs Catholicss, Attack of Spain on England, destruction os Spanish Armada).

I, however, didn't blame religions but the misuse of Religions, exploitation of Religions. I did mention what all religions order about human relations; peace and harmony, and how the followers misuse it. I didn't want to look an atheist:)

I discussed Crusades, as a special case. I put lot of emphasis on present day world's problem; terrorism in this context. I discussed how in the name of Allah they slaughter their fellow Muslims in Swat-Malakand. ........

A problem: I have also reproduced 8 lines of poetry (of my own from a poem which I published on-net last year during op. Rah-e-Rast indicating the complain of an IDP that how those terrorists misused religion.)

MY QUERY, IS MY INCLUDING POETRY ALLOWED. RESPONCE FROM ALL PLEASE.

Bilal Zamir Sunday, March 07, 2010 10:56 AM

@ New_Candidate

Fantastic. Looks like you really gave it your best.

I personally believe that this essay topic was the best and the most marks securing. Good luck in the rest of the exams.

New_Candidate Sunday, March 07, 2010 11:28 AM

@ Bilal Zamir,

But One thing, I went for quality rather quantity Because Many CSP advised me to go for Quality rather Quantity and I did the same, I saw candidates besides me, they started paper early and left the examination hall before 30-40 minutes and wrote around 15-18 pages. but now i am confused, because i have just written 13 Pages including Outline. What do you think, According to my facts, Are 12 pages enough to pass the paper?

omerkhan Sunday, March 07, 2010 01:30 PM

I wrote 'Pakistan is rich in natural resources but poor in their mgt'

Outline was:
Introduction

Mineral resources
Power resources-fossil fuels and others
Environment suited for agriculture
Forests

Problems: Improper planning
lack of technical knowhow
shortage of capital
Structural issues impeding implementation of plans

Effects of poor mgt of natural resources:
Lack of industrial development
Energy Crisis
Foreign exchange problems as we have to import resources
Macroeconomic instability

Proposed solutions: (wrote solutions of the problems discussed earlier)

Pitfalls in implementing these solutions:
Budget constraints
Lack of will of govt.

Conclusion

umarabbas Sunday, March 07, 2010 03:43 PM

@jahanzaib khan

work hard on mcqs and true false type questions...remember they fetch the maximum marks...go through all the acronyms...in the paper write very short, to the point answers...and never forget to add diagrams whereever they could....never go for paper filling techniques...if its two marks question, it means they want two points only....remember two points....not two pages....

Example for clarification:

- What is photosynthesis?(1)
if it is a one mark question, the answer would be: "Photosynthesis is a process whereby light energy is converted into chemical energy in the chloroplasts (leaves) of the plant"

however if it were a two marks question, then the answer would be different:

"Photosynthesis is a process whereby light energy is converted into chemical energy in the chloroplasts (containing chlorophyll) in the leaves of the plants. The process uses up Sunlight and Carbondioxide and produces oxygen and glucose" You may write the equation here or draw up a diagram..!!!

you can ask for more clarification

Imadafridi Sunday, March 07, 2010 04:39 PM

I wrote on equality of men and women and pakistan, wrote 16 pages and am reproducing my outline here, kindly comment on it as I don't feel satisfied with it.

Intro:

Women constitute almost 50% of world's popoulation
Women are participating in every field of life with men

Status of women in Islam:

Western misperception that Islam believes in oppression of women
Islam believes in equality of both men and women and the rights that Islam gave to women 1400 years back are being given to women now.
Women worked as traders and fought alongside men in wars

Status of women in Pakistan:

Male dominated society and women are treated as a property
Sold like animals in markets, not allowed to go out side of homes and their main duty is to reproduce and take care of their families
Not allowed to marry the person of their choice and in case they do,they are killed and their bodies are thrown away,
Contrary to Islamic teachings and has more to do with our tradition.

Role in development of Pakistan:

Tide is slowly in their favour now.
Participating in all fields of life alongwith men
Women are more hard working and taking distinctions in educations
Women in operational branches of armed forces
Women in Parliament,Dr.Fehmida Mirza as first women speaker of the National assembly.Their role in legislation
Women in Economic sphere,Dr.Shamshad Ahmed as first Governer of State bank

Role of Government:
Women Empowerment bill
Women Protection Bill
Benazir Income Support Program
Increased stress on female education

Conclusion:

Women are in no way inferior to men and both are working together to make Pakistan a better country.

Although i have not attempted this essay (for reasons that it a touchy issue) i will briefly give an outline about your strengths and weaknesses...basically this concept revolved around the theory of "clash of civilizations" and you have discussed it thats great...

check out your essay for yourself:

1- did you discuss the need for religion?? i don't think so....you will be marked down for it.
2- how did the number of different religions get the people to fight eachother...?? according to me, that will be a too strict interpretation by some against the lenient interpretation...did you discuss it???
3- did you discuss that religion and the followers of a religion are different entities....i.e the followers acting bad may not suggest that the religion is flawed.
4-the clash of civilizations is a flawed theory..did you discuss its flaws...
5-did you discuss the many common points that the religions have placed us....for example the unitary of God in all forms of religion (although with different names)....the important of good etc..

you see an essay demands us to touch both the aspects....if you start with a verdict from the very go and stick to it without giving some space to the opposite views, you are landing yourself into trouble...!!!

P.S religions don't make civilizations....civilizations have religions...there is a difference....there is nothing called Islamic Civilization....only regions define civilizations which have religions of their own....for example the Mesopotamia civilization was in Mesopotamia...it had different religions at different times...the Nile Civilization had different religions at different times...the latest being Islam....

you are absolutly right.
I thought I would come to the topic dialogue for combating terrorism after constructing a ground with proofs of failure to combat it with use of force, in doing so, i couldn't manage the time, and it took me to a never ending rout. though, i did it well to convince the assessor, but am not optimistic myself. so leave it, i learnt a lesson for next. still begging for 40 marks.....heheehe

you see an essay demands us to touch both the aspects....if you start with a verdict from the very go and stick to it without giving some space to the opposite views, you are landing yourself into trouble...!!!

Thanks So Much For Pointing Out Errors , I Couldnt Be More Grateful :)

Brother , As I Said I Forgot Few Points In Outline And After Reading Ur Reply I Have recalled Few

1. yes I Placed It As ....
Dawn of Mankind & Need Of Religion

2. There Are Many factors for this , Y people are fighting now over the religion ? Christians Say 'Mother Of God' Muslims Say God Is Alone . Hindu Worship Cow As God Muslims Eat It .. Back In Jainism , they used to fight Because jainism said eliminate The PHOOTA ( Other Religions)
So there Is Always A Fight With Many Religions be it verbal or physical

3. I Gave Another Outline For Fundamentalism :) And I discussed How Christian Fundamentalists Have Controlled Latin Side

4. Yes Sir , This Was Not To Be Missed

5. Exactly Sir , Under The Topic Of Help From Religion..

And I Agree It is not an easy essay as from my class out of 10 guys only i attempted this but i felt i had strong points. I gave references from Prophet(pbuh) , ferro period, Jainism , Bhuddism ........

And I Couldnt Disagree more with u sir even though u have solid point. Civilizations Adopt religion. The bhuddist religion is a combination of different philosophies and the teachings of Gautama !!

Thanks for ur time , I Really Appreciate it :) Points Welcome ! :)

@lubna

sorry dear....i thought i had done that....well both your's and saba's mistakes are identical...too much of terrorism and little about dialgoue...but the good part about yours is that your discussed dialogue in the beginning....inshallah that shall fetch ya gud score....IF you have given its examples, for instance the Ireland and UK dialogues, dialogues between Pakistan and Tehrik-i-Nifaz-i-Shariat-i-Muhammadi or dialogues betweeen Hamas and Israel or even dialogues between the NATO and Taliban in Afghanistan...!!!
i have attempted...

Can woman be equal to men in Pakistan?

I have written on these lines:

What is equality?
How is equality achieved?

Prevalent two different views about equality of women and men
1- Islamic View
2- Western View
Differences between the both.

Women's present plight in Pakistan
Causes for these conditions
What are the Government's recent steps towards equality of gender
Conclusion
I think you have not concentrated word "CAN" that much.
You must have given the arguments in favour of the statement (Yes women have that potential putting forward the recent history's evidences from pakistan, and jotting down the latest developments) or against it (women dont have that much capability as yet, proving how our social, religious and economic constraints have come in their way)
Over all, you essay seems good but slightly off the topic...
