It really depends on you that how you make your strategy. Some people read some standard book and then ratify from notes. While there are other who make their own notes. And then there are the ones who just read good stuff. And with it some people add material from different sources on their book.
It really depends on you.
Well in my opinion , you can use different sources like books , online sources and then these notes etc , to make your own notes.

Well I was going through examiner's report of last some years. And I was amazed when some examiner had this view that aspirants are not able to produce required material due to their dependenceor reliance on academies. At one place for International relations paper , examiner wrote same thing that due to academies aspirants were not able to use their own mind to give creative answers.

So , I don't think that you can get more better answer that from examiners who will be checking your papers.

And from now on I hope that this thing clears all doubts in minds of any person regarding this matter.

You can read that thing related to IR in the link given below. It has got examiner's report for year 2018. And that's most latest report till now.

Default academies are a trap

This is well defined notion in Pakistan that one needs to join an academy for CSS. Knowing the claimants of Passed candidates just on 1-2mere sessions of the institute is utterly disapppointing. Well to answer your question, you are capable enough to study at home. However, you need to work on your language, once you know the game of words to plot your story of answers, No matter the subject is technical, your style will retain the examiner's attention. So just seek help from an English expertise , get yourself evaluated time and again and you are good to go. Academies are just a trap looting millions at the stake of their future for their mighty businesses.
