yes Mr.president is constitutionally entitled to grant pardons and reprieves.
but on moral and conventional terms some historical and epoch-making precedents are set to be followed by the succeeding govts.Rehman Malik had to resign from the ministry to set a convention for the sake of the uplift of the country's political image.but if he does not, it is not a constitutional breach.he might be a very important person in the policy-making of the current govt and his resignation might hv affected badly the policy-making group.let the govt complete itz tenure.letz see what they do for this country and itz people.surely, they wl return to us for re-election.if they don't perform well, do not vote for them and this is what wl be like a capital punishment for them.of course, itz we people who can enthrone and dethrone them.

The obvious fact is that surely the exercise of that power was biased as being party leader he defended his party member,so the question arises if the same situation persists,it will then eb taken as a set precedent to be followed by by the coming governments as all the wrong doers and offenders would then be purely supprted by their party head and protective cover will always be there for them, which means they will then be free to do any wrong ahead........

though this is criticism but based on facts. This is Pakistan and being pakistani we all are ready to follow certain precedents and never followed what would benefit great number of people.

Default Cold war b/w govt and judiciary

Yes, surely the cold war b/w govt and judiciary is getting bitter and bitter. Govt does not seem to surrender before the decisions of the court, rahter it is wanting to hurt judiciary in every possible manner. Current issue of IM Rehman Malik's immusion is a question mark on the moral attitudes of our political stake holders. Surely, President has the power to pardon any person's punishment and he has rightly used his power but the question is that it confirms charges against Rehman Malik and now he is chastisized person.
Surely, we have regained democracy after a long period of time and we do need to respect the mandate of ruling party but at the same time they should also be looking to motivate people to get country out of its problems by setting personal examples. Any minister having a doubtful full cannot be a source of motivation for the people. Govt does not look sincere at all and they have no intentions to solve the issued of the country and its people. They are just looking to save their seats. Govt has very unnecessarily indulged itself in a cold war with judicary which it looks like might give way to a third force to come in and handle the affairs. Well, LONG BOOTS are always watching things closely and waiting for opportunity to have a go. Gen Kiayani may not be looking to gouty but he is about to complete his tenure as COAS and who knows what kind of approah will the person following him might show.
It is highly recommended that Govt must be looking forward towards the problems being faced by the country and its people and should take concrete measures to resolve the main current issues of the people instead of indulging itself in an unnecessary war with judicary.
