Default An analysis of I.t projects in punjab????

Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, initiated the Punjab IT Labs Project in Government schools to overcome the Digital Divide between the public and private sector schools. This project was completed in a record time of 110 days and over 4286 schools were covered in this project. This initiative will revolutionize the education sector and the new generation will play an important role in the progress and development of the country with adequate IT education. In Punjab IT lab project, every school is equipped with 3 desktop PCs and 12 virtual desktops with powered by Microsoft technologies , high speed internet connection and state of the art hardware solutions from companies like Inbox, Siemens, PEL, N-Computing, PTCL, New Horizon. All the labs are also equipped with cooling and power backup solutions. The project was executed and monitored by Microsoft technologies of project monitoring & collaboration with the assistance of M/s. Hospex Consulting Services, The Microsoft Partner & Microsoft Team – moreover has provided extensive trainings to master trainers to enhance their skill set & teaching methodologies to meet international standards. Project is a success story and completed in record time because of visionary administration of Chief Minister Punjab and His team.

The question is whether this project and its Phase 2,laptop scheme are sufficient to achieve objectives as described by its planners and developers???

Default a response and opinion

although it is not a well researched reply. But a common perception is that it is a flop project and not up to local needs. Laptop distribution is just to get artificial fame, and creation a hype. A better solution is a university or some industry should be established with this fund or grant. It is my personal point of view.

Default Something is better . . .

I would like to add a famous quote here . . .

“Something is better than nothing, more is better than something, but too much can also be damaging.”
(David Thomas)

[I] think CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has no clear vision regarding the things he want to do or THE CHANGE he wants to bring in...
Distribution of laptops is one of the examples. a lot of students have already sold their laptops...Similarly if a student has passed his pre engineering, medical or arts with good grades what is the guarantee that he is also a master in using computers specially laptops... and what kind of benefit would he get from the laptop..??
despite he should provide jobs, to the students who are passing their exams and waiting for jobs ... this is the most important issue... not IT Projects....
