Political battle , & election commission...
WHO will get to vote, and will the Election Commission be able to protect that vote? The new chief election commissioner was sworn in yesterday, and these are the two major issues he should focus on before the next polls. As many as 20 million Pakistanis of voting age — the majority of them women — are estimated to have been unregistered in the draft electoral rolls revealed in March. The other major problem was registration of citizens at the wrong addresses, especially migrants registered in their hometowns…….. is their any chance of transparent election…. Comment please…… |

By considering the excellent reputation of the newly appointed CEC, one can have high hopes for fairly transparent elections.
for the unregistered women voters; the EC could arrange a voters registration centre in each district. It will also help to enroll all those voters who have recently turned 18.

Mr. G. Ibraheem is a man of credentials. Known for his fair and square dealing during his years in judicial arena speaks , he has the ability to be able to ensure sufficiently free and fare general elections. His judicial as well as administrative experience being an A. G and governor of a province would be at his disposal in coming up to the demand of his duty. It is hoped he takes timely actions in regard of completion and correction of voter lists. At least one hopes , Mr. Ibraheem would ensure that the registered voters are able to vote for the person and party of their choice and their votes are not stolen and results are not manipulated. The very presenc of Mr. Ibraheem would be an encouraging factor in increasing the voters turn out. Many voters prefer to stay indoor as they feel elections wouldn't be fair and it would be a futile effort to go polling stations. At least now a hope prevails that this Man is man enough to resist the hardships in the way of ensuring free and fair election in Pakistan , eqrswhile a distant dream.
