Most of us are not well versed with what he said while holistic study of Iqbal is required to access "Iqbal". He himself once wrote:-

Muj ko bhi tamanna hay k Iqbal ko dekhun
Ki uss ki justajoo men bari jaan fashani

Regards!
Elevating Iqbal to the status of SuperMan shouldn't be a wonder for a nation whose ideology was carved out by a demagogue like Maudodi

Excellent, and I'm glad he clarified it in a very precise and spot-on manner. We as a nation suffer from this problem, either someone is 'devta' or 'shaitan' (as he very aptly put). The usual black and white mentality that our schools hammer in us from early childhood. If someone has criticized a few aspects of Iqbal, this does not mean he is an enemy of Iqbal. This is a very simple point, and yet countless people fail to understand it. One can estimate the thinking capabilities of the 'educated' people from this.

But here's the interesting thing: I know this explanation will still fall on deaf ears (mostly). What a pity.

I endorse your view point this is because we as a nation have sunk intellectually

I think it was a typical show, Hassan Nisar reacted very typically as he often takes a pessimistic stance and bashes everyone whereas lal topi was also very typical in his conservative rhetoric . But I notice one thing emerging, we are entering an age where nothing is holy unlike as in the past, is it good or bad???

It is quite regrettable that we as muslims in general and pakistanis in particular never absorb criticism in anything. And that is the reason why Europeans are so much ahead of us ,because we connect everything with faith and faith is antithesis of reasoning and criticism. In my humble opinion, the bewitching effects which iqbal poetry has on our people's mind is that he has incorporated islam in his poetry ,which make him triumphant in all other poets .Another interesting fact is that he has borrowed concept of 'shaheen' and 'khudi' from Khushal Khan Khattak i.e., 'pat/khudi' and 'shaheen' .for example his one couplet goes like this : ''sah sho ka loye loye wazar preporay di ,,kargis kargis de, shaheen shaheen de '' (both birds have enormous wings ,but kirgis can't be like shaheen )
