what i think
well its a very well known saying that
"one man's terrorist is another's hero" - unambomber (a Ph D in mathematics from michigan university)is the best example always quoted. what matters is the angle through which u judge the matter. now taliban view themselves as the saviors of islam. their deep roots and manifestos are incorporated with those of al qaeda, whose idea is to avenge all those non believers who have been the cause of humiliation to muslims for a long period of time- goes too the saying of usama bin laden. now the fact is that such aversion is tried to be culminated through jihad - the way chosen so that all muslims could be moulded into the wanted or desired way. religious tinge is given to the political agenda because its the easiest way to exploit the deprived and easy-to-incline minds. the master mind behind is always a well educated being that can operate and manipulate things very easily. whats wrong with taliban is that they are interpreting islam in a very conservative and reactionary way thus negating the concept of ijtihad. islam has never been incompatible with the innovations for good. the human mind when grows with the modern knowledge of the current era does ask questions which shouldn't be tagged as kufar or the alike. rather such questions should be answered to the full satisfaction of the questioning minds and this is the only way possible through ijtihad. the taliban thought and manifesto seems to have not a single or slight tinge of such a fact. they are against "agree to disagree" - they project a school of thought which they think is the only right way and thus overtly negating the others. infact its the beauty of islam that it is such a flexible religion that different interpretations could be done to the real core. but unluckily they turn it down. infact what we need is that the govt. should take steps to make sure that the land of pakistan is not being used by any power aimed to negate the exitance of pakistan and its interests in any way, and for that a unified public opinion and selfless efforts of the higher authorities is needed. P.S: this is a vast topic and needs much elaboration, will try to add some more.
