THE question of transparency in the Pakistan Civil Service 2003 in Sindh has come to the fore now after six years.
The government now says that candidates were not selected on merit.

But the fact remains that every ruling party blames the previous one for not doing justice.

I think candidates who qualified in PCS examinations in 2003 with flying colours should not be targeted in the blame-game.

In fact, 20 to 25 of the qualified candidates -- PCS 2003 batch -- are now CSP officers.

In the last few years they left their PCS jobs on their selection to various groups through CSS examinations.

Some of them are: Karamatullah Soomro (PSP), Shabir Sethar (PSP), Fawad Ghaffar Soomro (DMG), Jahanzeb Abbasi (Customs and Excise), Fayaz Abbasi (DMG), Fayaz Jatoi (DMG), Fawad Shah (DMG), Ihsan Shah (Customs and Excise) and Ghulam Haider Mahesar (Customs and Excise).

These outstanding candidates qualified the CSS examinations in the last few years and have been undergoing training in various batches.

Many of them have got their postings and are serving diligently.

The remaining officers are undergoing training in Civil Services Academy in Lahore in their respective departments.

The government, therefore, should take measures to restore the credibility of the PCS officers selected in 2003.
