Inspector customs is a uniform job. Salary will be around 50k after performance allowance which will be included within a year. Perks and privileges vary with postings and sections. In Anti smuggling section, you will be provided official residence and vigo for patrolling. While no such facility is provided at other sections. Customs has variety of sections/field formations. inspector customs can be posted at dry port, sea port, air port, land custom stations and anti smuggling organization etc.
Moreover, inspector customs and intelligence officer were two different posts previously. Later on, in 2015, post of inspector customs and intelligence officer were merged into one cadre and renamed as inspector customs/ Intelligence officer. They will be called intelligence officers during posting under the directorate general of intelligence and investigation and inspector customs while posted in rest of the customs field formations.
So, the positives are:
1. Handsome salary package,
2. Social recognition,
3. Variety of job postings at dry port, sea port, air ports, land customs stations, anti smuggling unit etc
4. Can work as inspector customs or intelligence officer as both the cares have been merged in 2015.
5. Charm of uniform,
6. More authority than inspector inland revenue.

The only negative is that promotions are deadly slow. But, in near future, prospects are somewhat better regarding promotions, because after recent up gradations promotions have become comparatively fast. For example, post of deputy superintendent has been erased. Now, inspector will be promoted to superintendent customs which is grade 17 post. Furthermore, in near future, post of superintendent can be erased as new inspectors are planning to file a petition in court to get the superintendent customs post as dying Cadre. So, inspector can be promoted to AC after 7,8 years.

Dear, I said "in my opinion, it is better than inspector Inland revenue and senior Auditor."
I've explained why I consider it better.
You can differ with my opinion. Everyone has own choice and appetite. May be, for some people, senior Auditor is a better job than inspector customs.

brother payscale of Senior auditor is b-16 as well plus you can also be promoted after clearing PIPFA departmental exams. furthmore, you can go up in scale to Deputy level

anyone please can guide me about the study material availability of the inspector custom post. or anything relvant necessary to be studies regarding the said job.. please throw some light on it

Apply for the test, prepare for the test, appear in the test, pass the test, prepare for the interview, appear in the interview, clear the interview, receive an offer letter, and then decide and compare it with other jobs.
