Question

What is the criteria of cut-off marks? is it separate for different technologies/fields like different for engineering, for business studies, for social sciences etc? and is it separate for different provinces? or will cut-off marks be same for all provinces and all technologies?

Merit cut off is different for different provinces only. There is province wise quota so the number of students selected from all provinces is fixed. Merit for each province is determined based on the performance of the students from that province. Highest cut off is usually for Punjab. There is no consideration of disciplines at this stage or at the next stage. The students shortlisted at this stage need to apply to commonwealth commission and make a strong case in front of their case by demonstrating their motivation for their chosen subject.

Thanx for reply. In last year's thread I read that someone who got 85 marks was not selected and on the other hand someone with 82 marks was selected. Any idea how one can make one's case strong? Do they prefer the minorities and women or is it purely merit based? If someone gets highest marks in Pakistan or in his province, will it insure his scholarship?

This test only serves only the purpose of short listing candidates to apply to the commission. So the test score will have no significance once you apply to the commission. The commission conducts interviews and considers your academic record and the personal statement. Another factor would be whether the university you have applied to accepts you or not. A good thing at this point would be if you select a university and course and apply now. Having an acceptance letter might increase chances of getting the scholarship. At the end of the day there is no quota reserved for countries so we have to compete with candidates from around the world.
According to the commission: "Applications are considered according to the following selection criteria:
Academic merit of the candidate
Quality of the proposal
Potential impact of the work on the development of the candidate’s home country"

Test was lengthy. A number of applicants on this forum has already said that they were not able to complete the test. And I do feel that there are some mistakes in analytical portion of key.

This sort of things happen in NTS tests. Last year the highest score in Cultural Exchange was 79. 'Highest'. On the other hand the cut off for Common Wealth was 82. So till the announcement of merit list one can not predict the cut-off marks of this test. NTS is always unpredictable.

I believe that this year the merit will be lower than last year's merit. So you can also be among the lucky ones. Let us wait for the merit list. Fingers crossed. Wish you best of luck.
