con (the codes of the word con (ASCII) get struct with the windows nobel virus codes) that's why when you type con on non registered windows it occurs. But sometimes it also occours with genuine. There are many more dos commands tree, chkdsk, run, execute. But, it is really strange. Naming a folder is not related to dos only. Thanks ( let me try contacting microsoft). Thanks

as Island mentioned CON, PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM0, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT0, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9 can't be names of folders, and its true because all these names are reserved as these are part of operating system's commands, communication ports and these codes are used to perform different tasks and it can be a security risk to name folders with these reserved names, and off course Microsoft can not answer because it can lead to prohibited actions which are still hidden in Windows.

Regards,

Arrow Micro Soft Magic

MAGIC # 01

This is something pretty cool and neat...and unbelievable...

At Microsoft the whole Team,
including Bill Gates, couldn't answer why this
happened!

It was discovered by a Brazilian. Try it out yourself...

Open Microsoft Word and type

=rand (200, 99)

And then press ENTER

Smile and here is another one!

to create a file in MSDOS the command is "copy con file name" and then type your data. after this press crtl+z and enter a file by the name you entered is created so may be con is reserved for file creation.
