why u are not taking ur machine to technician?
here we all will done different experiments and its possible that instead of fix the problem it harm ur pc.
first of all just tell me that have u bought ur pc now or before? Secondly if before so u r facing the problem from the start or few time and what u done which cause that problem?
After that we will be to find the remedy.
few suggestions delete all ur partition and remake them but if u have any essential data so transfer it in ur flash drive or hard drive which possible for u. Secondly check ur RAM as it is matched to ur pc configuration if not then replace it and third install any good antivirus program to scan the viruses but in case of deleting partition there is no need of any antivirus.
Do and after that inform me.
Regards

1.60 GHz is not good to run Xp with no. of programs. You have to maximize it. Also try to enhance RAM upto 1 GB.
With 512 MB RAM upto 50% space is captured by Antivirus and windows itself. So very little memory is left to run other programs smoothly.

The major problem is the anti-virus program running in your pc.
It has a slow processor and less RAM so uninstall the anti-virus program.
Do not keep it rather reinstall it when needed and then uninstall after scanning.

Do not install high graphic games and other softwares which take more space and CPU usage such as skype, photoshop.
If you have installed full version of MS-office then uninstall it and keep word and excel only(if you don't need other programs.)

Delete all unwanted programs by going into control panel >>>> add/remove programs only.

Install a good registry cleaner..(cc cleaner is very effective) and run it everyday just before shut down.It will remove all the cookies, caches and other unwanted files. It does not take much space.

Lower down your PC's screen and graphic resolution. If will help in increasing speed.

Disable all auto-updates.

It is recommended to increase your RAM to 1 GB plus if you get get more than 2 GHz cpu that will solve your problems.

Regards.

@ Tooba Malik
The actual problem is anti-virus that you have installed in your pc. Besides this, you need to increase the virtual memory of your system. it may be increased by using the following method.
1. go to "my computer" properties
2. go to advance tab and click at performance setting
3. click at Adjust the best performance button.
4. then go to advance tab that is the second tab in the menu.
5. at virtual memory click at change button then increase the upper and lower limit. note that the memory will use the space of c: drive.

With this remove the anti-virus and use USB disk Security to save the system from virus which comes through USB etc (removable disk). If problem with register version you may ask for the same from me.

You are welcome,I hope your pc speed is improved now

Your Pc has low storage and processing capacity so keep the necessary things only.

Usually torrents manager,IDM manager,Yahoo messenger and other softwares start automatically when you turn the pc on,so make sure you close them all before doing anything else.

Run cc cleaner everyday, speed will improve IA.

Regards,

to solve this problem
go to start, then to Run option.
write "msconfig" and uncheck unnecessaary options for not starting unnecessary softwares with the start of window.

I have personal experience and i think you must not use cc cleaner because it will damage your hard disk.

No it does not damage hard disk if one runs cleaner and registry scan only.
Yes,if one goes to advance mode i.e tool cleaner then it can damage the disk.
