I have given a task to write research papers on management sciences. I have been told to follow ISI index as well as impact factor. I have no idea about these. So please if anyone, who has written a research paper, Please send me a specimen or guide me, how to write.

ISI index may be the writing style of research paper.like how to write headings and refferences etc of research paper.I followes APA manual which has different syntax or writing style or presentation style u can say than ISI.For clear definition of impact factor see its definition from net.IF basiccally means how many users read ur research paper.

Well dear before writing research paper/article you must have clear idea about the topic on which you are going to write, what areas to touch and what things you are going to focus. For example as you say you have to write on management then in my opinion yo can only write review article based upon the already published literature, but if you have some exact or specific topic then have a look at the specific research journals publishing articles on management and try to find a good format as per your requirement.

Being a doctoral student in the field of science I have published research articles and I am giving you the outlines for it that may help you at least to have an idea:

1. Introduction:

Brief introduction of the topic/problem/issue which you are going to write on. Here in the end you can also justify that why you have chosen this topic, why you are going to write on this (aims and objectives).

2. Literature Survey:

You have to go through already published literature on particular area/topic that what work has been done and to which extent this have been covered and whether the areas which you are going to explore have already
been touched by the eminent scholars or not.

3. Research Scheme/Plan/Strategy:

Here you'll mention your scheme that how you worked to gather the results, plan of gathering data, performing any analysis and statistical analysis if any. Any material and method you used. In scientific work we write experimental work and its scheme here in this portion.

4. Results and Discussion:

Here you can describe your findings/results from your survey or from your research work. You need to discuss also how they are significant and also need to justify them.

5. Conclusion:

A brief conclusion of the survey/research conducted by you, its simply based on the results you obtained/gathered.

ISI index the platform which has database of thousands of scholarly journals publishing research papers. You need to follow the journals which are indexed in ISI. Almost all the good journals are indexed in ISI. Writing style of the paper and reference varies from the journal to journal so you can adjust them when you are done with it and it can be done in the final stages when you are going to submit it for publication.

Let me correct you Noveela: Impact factor is not that how many people read, but its that how many people cite research papers in later published works. We can not individually calculate the IF for our research paper it is calculated for the whole journal and the IF of the journal is counted to be the IF of each article.
