Yes, you can call yourself doctor as your degree is Pharm. D and D stands for doctor in it.
there are only three official doctors; MD> doctor of medicine Ph.D Doctor of philosphy and Pham. D doctor of Pharmacy MBBS one is a physician he can not claim him or herself doctor officially as an mbbs personal already lost a case in court that he can not claim himself an official doctor. For females it is a garden of roses. |

Pharmacist with pharm d degree recently won a case in court against Pmdc and can now call themself doctor (Find the notice by PPC on internet).
MBBS can also call themself doctor! Right has been given to them by pmdc. A pharmacist has the best knowledge of the drug formulation, medicine including vaccines, posions and use of medical devices. (while biomedical engineer knows there construction and working). Pharmacist also knows the manufacturing, storing of medicine and raw material as well . With patient they counsel about use and remove misconception. Hence with these expertise pharmacist work as (in Pakistan): Community pharmacist: Hospital pharmacist: Store and management of hospital pharmacy and patient councelling and aid to physician on choice of theapy! Production manager in industry Marketing and other management posts in pharmceutical, cosmetic and food industry! Drug inspector: Posts in DRAP: Academia: In developed countries research on drug effects, therapy and drug design is also pharmacists role. the difference in physician and pharmacist is Physician can write prescription while pharmacist has right and duty to suggest changes if he finds anything irrational in prescription! Pharmacist can dispense medicine but physician cannot. Except for few life saving medicine which he can keep in his clinic they are not authority to sell medicine (they won't get any profit from medicine only can have their councelling fee, it ensure rational cost effective medicine use). Female are in every sector of as male pharmcist but general perception is most males go to industry while most females go to hospital! It is so vast field that anybody with exception can adjust but requires hardwork! If you are going to try Mbbs. Pharmacist try dpt, dvm as well they are both doctors as well |
